When a guy has 25-30 fights over 5 years of "cautious matchmaking" and then loses the only legit fight he's ever had, I love to see him get shredded because he should have sought out challenges earlier & built up his skills.
Gary Russell is someone that comes to mind here. He could have had a title shot probably 2 years before he actually stepped up and took one. And he had Haymon so he certainly had the connections to get a title shot. He simply didn't want one, and was content to destroy guys who weren't even in the Top 100, earning cushy little paydays in so doing.
I LOVED when Lomachenko boxed his ears off and made him look silly. He got what he deserved for wasting fans' time and trying our patience all those years.
If Russell had been like Canelo trying to fight the whole damn world before age 25, then I'd be a fan of his win or lose. But Russell is the exact opposite of Canelo.
Plus nobody forced you to watch Gary Russels as a prospect, I never watched him fight until I knew he was scheduled to fight Lomachenko, and that's when I started watching him, I didn't find it frustrating that he fought bums for the first part of his career because I simpy didn't care to watch him, but once he stepped up and started fighting at the top level that's when you can criticize him, Lomachenko imo deserves more criticizim for the subpar level of opposition he's been facing after that Russell win, Russell on the other hand deserves some credit for getting himself together and winning a title after such an embarrasing loss to Lomachenko.
I don't see a reason why anyone would LOVE to see a prospect lose on his first fight at the top level? I can understand if you were a fan of Lomachenko that you were happy he won, but why the hate for a prospect though? why are you mad that he was fighting bums? I don't pay attention to prospects until they fight the fights where I feel they will be tested, otherwise I don't care honestly, he wasn't holding any belt hostage he wasn't taking the position of someone more deserving.

Pacquiao was already a former flyweight champion before his first fight in the states (ledwaba) and has fought all over Asia against decent comp with his awkward, exciting style. The MAB fight established pacquiao as a force in the lower divisions while the DLH fight made him known in the mainstream.
If everything stayed the same, pacquiao would have been more beloved in America than he is now.
Realistically though, he would probably have not pursued boxing if it wasn't for his impoverished childhood.

if Pac was American, his private life would get more attention than his boxing....he wouldn't get a pass for ****ing hoes while married or any other private life troubles....especially if he was AFRICAN AMERICAN...he'd have dudes on here posting monkey pics, buckets of KFC chicken with his face photo shopped inside and cats would constantly be digging for dirt and searching his closet for skeletons

Annie calls him "ping ping".
Check the thunderdome, some call his fans "dog eaters", etc.
