First let me ask, is this fight PPV worthy?

I think it wouldn't be a bad HBO PPV fight. On the PBC side idek if they are f#cking with PPV doe (outside of Floyd).

Idk how PBC are going to pay guys $10M & more when they got those Cotto vs Canelo level fights at some point if they don't do PPV. Thats why I'm curious whats going down with the Wilder vs Povetkin fight cuz I think thats PBC's first 8 digit fight, but PBC's been paying Wilder 1Mish for his last 3 fights. All the people talking about losing massive money with $1M purses on ESPN & idk about all that, but I know you can't put no $10M fight on NBC & not lose a nice chunk of money right now or I'd assume that to be the case.

Second, we hear certain fighters say they will fight GGG if the $ is right, so as a fan, in your opinion, whats a fair purse to fight GGG?

This is a tough one cuz I think Jacobs is making about what GGG makes on regular HBO or maybe more. I think this fight would undoubtedly go to purse bids & I suspect there'd probably be $5M-$6M to split between them (not sure how champ vs reg champ purse bid cuts work). I think for sure Jacobs is gonna have to get $2M+ since he made $1.5M this weekend.

And third, in a fight with GGG vs Jacobs, who should get the higher purse? Essentially whos the A-side...

GGG is #1 in the division & has PPV buys to his name so I'd say he's the A side. Problem is they both seem to be making around the same amount of money so if they came to an agreement I wouldn't be surprised if its 50/50.

The only problem I see with that is even though Jacobs might not get that much anywhere else, he can still get good paydays (not as high) but damn good fighting within pbc. Thats where this topic becomes interesting because GGG's camp if they really wanted this fight would have to put up intriguing #'s despite what us as fans think. I think most people have answered some fair financial thoughts but I think this fight would require some ridiculous #'s from both sides in order to be made, nothing close to what most posters are assuming...

It's going to be an expensive hard to make. Jacobs apparently made 1.5 million for his fight with Quillin. I'm sure he's going to ask for the moon to fight GGG.

I honestly don't understand how these PBC guys get so much money for these fights, but the fact is they do. So if GGG wants the fight he'll have to do it for short money or not at all. It's a shame too because GGG brings out the fans.

Jacobs getting another solid win against Lee would probably get it close to par since he would be real strong in New York which is an important market.

Golovkin vs Jacobs for the WBA/IBF/WBC(i think Canelo vacates the belt) 160 belts, in New York City, is a PPV fight (HBO likely slow walks it, but Showtime backs pretty obviously). If I had to guess the audience, I'd figure it to do 400k-500k PPV buys.

In determining the split, since neither guy is really all that obvious a star, it's going to come down to simply sitting down and counting the revenues to be brought in [Golovkin likely brings the stronger live gate, fight is worth far more to Jacobs' broadcaster, Jacobs likely brings more NYC sponsor interest, Golovkin may possibly brings multinational sponsors, Golovkin brings international TV rights money, etc]

On the face of it, an equitable split is likely 65/35 Golovkin; that number likely gets pushed down to 55/45 Golovkin, if the insistence on HBO getting the fight occurs (doubt that HBO is ready to commit more money than Showtime for the fight)

$1m downside guarantee, with a 40/60 split of the upside on the fighter share of the fight proceeds, would be an offer that Jacobs couldn't walk from.
