Anyone who has listened to Kirkland speak and/or watched him fight, knows that he's a rough and tumble character. Now, "Rough and tumble character" is one way to describe him, "******" is another. Clearly, Lampley considers Kirkland to be the latter, so it was an easy Freudian slip. I don't think it was necessarily racist. Was it politically correct? No, but this is boxing, not the Wheel of Fortune.
You are located in California but it sounds like you are from England and have a low opinion of fat yanks. If that is true why do you live in the country of fat yanks?
As you say, I must live in California as it says that in my profile location.
While I agree with this point, Posters, announcers and anyone in public is generally smart enough not to do thing in a clear, overt way because of the expected backlash. Instead,They use coded language that ********** easily pick up and are equally offended by.
Pointing out when this happens isn't trivializing the issue or playing the race card.
Just to be clear, are you "trolling" this time or not?
Not defending Lampley, but aint many black people are very proud of "****** thing"?
They are until they get called out on It, than they get defensive and claim racism.
It's the same thing as how they use to to enjoy calling themselves a "thug". But once white people starting saying it, black people accused them of replacing the n word with thug.
