most of those shows lose money, or at best break even. Back when I did some ESPN shows, they were only paying $35 grand total for the main, co-main, and 2 swing bouts.
No promoter does those shows to make money. You do them for 2 reasons.
1. To get your fighter on national tv. That exposure is well worth the 5 or 10 grand you might lose on the show.
2. You're doing a #1 eliminator, or some other fight that has costs not commensurate with the revenue, and if you can get ESPN or Gordon at ShoBox to buy it, you can drastically mitigate what you were going to lose without any tv.
I dont know where you get the silly idea that promoters make money on every event. Typically it costs a promoter somewhere around 100k (or more) to move a fighter from a pro debut to say 20-0. We make investments in fighters, hoping that we have chosen well and the guys we put money in will develop into HBO level fighters where we can make our money back. Nobody on the club level makes any real money, and most lose. There are probably around 5-10 promoters at most in the US that actually turn a profit.
But now that I think about it, why am I even bothering to try and explain it. You already know everything
If you're in a business where you expect to lose your ass on every show, simply as a course of doing business, you're a **** promoter.
If Jacobs had a better chin I'd give him a shot to beat Golovkin.
But his chin won't hold up against Golovkin.
Just no but hell no Jacob with a chin is still just a sparring partner for ggg, this fight is a total mismatch from hell. This will just shut the Larry's up again when Jacob gets his $h!t pushed in

I guess we will never know because as soon as Gokovkin touches Jacobs he's going down.
For what it's worth if Jacobs had a Jake Lamotta chin I'd still pick Golovkin.
So what is Dibella going to do now? He's already been out making excuses about network issues. Meaning, they're ducking Golovkin and only interested in the Lee/Saunders winner.
Haymons going to win any purse bid for this fight and Little G's going to drop the belt.
According to Eastcoast's post in another thread, GGG's next HBO bout (most likely against Tureano) will be the last of his current contract, which means that we could possibly get GGG on PBC vs. Jacobs.

Ducking Golovkin? Golovkin and Jacobs are in the same boat with the networks, so Golovkin must be ducking Jacobs.

If the WBA orders Golovkin vs Jacobs there won't be a Tureano fight with Golovkin as WBA title holder, they'll have 30 days to sign the fight.
