i think that is wat casual fans have come to make worse...a lose is not bad..cotto losing to canelo is not bad.he was much smaller and put a up a great fight..i still want to see cotto vs bradley....and yes i would likely pay for it especially with a good undercard...cant be scared to lose

Golovkin does not look flashy and is pretty much 'straight up and down' as Mayweather said. But GGG obviously has exceptional power, and seems to cut the ring off well and does subtle things. Much like a Chavez snr in his prime, who never looked that fast but very hard to beat, and breaking guys down. A slick guy like Ward is very difficult to beat though. Unless we see them in the ring together, can't say for sure now.

Some people on here post absolute nonsense about these 2 fighters

For what it's worth, here are my 2 cents

NEITHER fighter is scared - they are professional boxers FFS!

For his part, Ward seems to be an extremely intelligent & articulate guy who made the mistake of taking a lawyer's advice (wont be the first or last) and it cost him 2 years of his career and credibility with some fans

In the meantime, GGG's people, in an effort to promote his name, made the mistake of talking about 168

This, in turn, caused Rip Van Ward to awake from his self-imposed slumber and declare that he'd have some of that

This led to GGG's people absolutely ****ting themselves as Ward is massive risk, relatively low reward and a loss could've derailed the Golovkin express just as it was gathering steam

As a result, they have been in damage control ever since with one nonsense excuse after another

For their own credibility, GGG needs to make a fight with Canelo and Ward needs to get back in the ring

        END OF

I guess that implies if Golovkin moves up in weight to 168 or 172-175 (where Ward seems set on fighting at 175 now) and were to lose a decision, he's no good? He's not impressive and was exposed? Is Ward some gatekeeper here or isn't he considered one of the best fighters over the past 10 years or whatever? If a good fighter loses to another good fighter that doesn't mean they suck. Same type of weird mentality when someone loses to Floyd Mayweather and suddenly they were exposed and over hyped, as if that's the benchmark to being good or not. Strange logic.
same crap people pulled on mayweather with like 5 different fighters so lets not act like he didnt have it happen to himself

We can all be fans and still be objective. We know GGG needs a big name, we know his team have talked a lot and this is the same thing I was pointing out 2/3 years ago.

I don't want to see GGG feasting on low level competition at 160 anymore period, it does nothing for him in the short or longer run, if he gets Canelo in the next two fights then all power to him.
there is absolutely no doubt what so ever that hbo moved ward to 175 because he was a threat to their dollars in ggg any ggg fan that cant even admit this fact is honestly delusional

GGG is becoming one of the new faces of boxing. He has looked impressive knocking out good solid middleweights since he has been on HBO. GGG is extremely marketable already getting commercials on Apple that are being shown world wide.

Should the Lemieux fight have been PPV NO......Lemieux didn't have the name yet to push that fight to decent numbers. But he/Roman Gonzalez did sell out Madison Square Garden. He's on the right track to crossing over and becoming a Superstar.

GGG wants Canelo not just for the WBC title but also for the big time money he will get and the exposure he will get. Now once or if he beats Canelo then he should aim for Andre Ward. Everyone knows Money May won't fight this guy and risk that undefeated recorded up yet against a guy who doesn't have the PPV numbers to sell yet/is a major threat to him.

As for Mr. Ward he's lost a lot of exposure since he went inactive. He lost a lot of chances to become one of the most recognizable fighters/one of the most marketable fighters when he decided to go through the whole lawsuit with his previous promoter. Right now based on pure talent to me Ward is just a great as Money May. This guy dominates his opponents. None of his fights are even close he beats guys up and makes them mentally/physically check out.

Andre Ward was the A side at one point but right now GGG is because he's putting the butts in seats and his name is bigger right now.

Ward should move up in weight and fight Sergey then eventually fight GGG.
