That's a huge number. More than I thought it would do.

These are the 2nd and 3rd biggest draws in boxing. Maybe more than that, now, I'm not sure where Pacquiao's drawing power is at the moment. I guess I should have expected a success like this.

Not only are you wrong, you also fail to understand what you're quoting.

Look at it this way, if GGG goes down to 155 and beats Canelo (which will do good ppv numbers) he can call out Mayweather from there. He can be like "look I made the weight no problem". People already want froid to fight golovkin. Theres not much interest for froid to fight anybody else even if it is his 50th fight
All roads lead to a retired 147lber

yes please tell me how a 97k ppv event wasnt considered a flop with a near 5mill purse for the fight card, $100k+ in merchandise, and 1million gate, with 10% ppv going to hbo, and 45/45 being split between the cable provider and the two promotional companies. the average ticket price for the msg btw was around 99 when you consider the sellout numbers, my ticket was $50 as well.

I thought/hoped it would break a million, but the Mayweather Pacquiao fight may have cast a long shadow over the sport for casual viewers.

-Oscar predicts 1.5m PPV buys, Roc Nation closer to 2m. HBO says 900k. NSB: OMG WHAT A SUCCESS, AMAZING, RECORD BREAKING SINCE LEWIS, EVERYONE BOW TO CANELO (even though split was 75/25 in Cotto's favor)
Just stop those comments from Golden Boy and Roc were just to sell the fight. Those were never realistic bench marks for success. 900k is a huge number double what Floyd just did his last fight. And the fighter split was not 75/25. Cotto got slightly higher percent and then RECEIVED a bonus payout from Roc Nation based on the contract he signed with them. I believe it was reported as 5mil. Meaning Roc Nation operated at a loss and paid him extra money out of their own pocket. Roc Nation was the biggest loser they over paid to sign Cotto hoping he could jump start their promotions and beat Canelo and get a even bigger fight with Floyd. Not only did he lose they have no chance of recouping all the money they gave him when they signed him and they signed Rigo and put him on the undercard and he stunk up the joint and probably wont get another TV date because of it. Combined with the terrible concert Roc Nation forced on the PPV they just came across as amateur and not ready for the big times.
