my brother hates the hugging in mma but he also thinks boxing is gay,Originally posted by GrimgashI've had this discussion with friends before. Even once we sat and watch a MMA tape. These were big sports fans, and most of them hated watching MMA do to its lack of excitment. Its good for 2 min of a fight, the rest is on the floor holding. Then when the action actually gets going its stopped shortly there after. Boxing and MMA both have boring fights. What it comes down to is, when you put boxings best fights vs MMAs best. You'll usually come out with boxing on top. Boxing for one is longer, the fighters have a sort of ability when they throw thier punches, and there may be a round or two where not much happens, but its almost never 12 straight minutes of holding (john ruiz fights excluded). Why I posted a serious response? I will never know.
due to the padding, he seems to feel no damage is really done or
something ******ed like that. he will let his 3yr old daughter watch
boxing but not cage fighting, seems ****in ****** but then he tends
to put everything down that im really into, how many times ive had
to sit through his lectures on boxing, or hip hop. snore lol
personally mma is ok, but not spectacular, unless you are into
the groundgame, its very technical i know but so is boxingComment

^Good stuffOriginally posted by K-DOGGA boxer beats an mma guy under boxing rules, an mma beats a boxer under mma rules. Common sense.
Yeah, people seem to forget that some boxing matches are very boring, as well. Generalizing MMA into "hugging on the ground" is the one of the ******est things I've ever heard. Especially when a good portion of the fighters are strikers who avoid the ground game at all costs. Oh yeah, and have any of you ever done it before? Besides moving into the punch while standing, getting your face pounded on hurts a hell of a lot more.

MMA will NEVERRR EVERRRR in their lifetime produce somethin like..
De La Hoya -vs- Mayweather
I know boxing hasn't done it yet either, but just the thought and the talk of it is enough to build suspense like nothin else couldComment
