Thurman is looking for a rematch with the Ghost or Zaveck instead. He knows that Porter would shut him down like he did to Broner.
Comments Thread For: K. Porter: I Believe Thurman is Having Second Thoughts

There aint no second thoughts from Thurman. The only reason the fight got delayed and is on hold is because PBC hasn't been doing well. Both camps are under haymon so this in not drama from promoters trying to agree on the split or other details. That crap was already worked out and both camps said if Thurman won his fight in July he was facing Porter next on PBC later in the year. The fight was done MONTHS ago. The delay matches up with the same shift we have seen on PBC. First half of the year Haymon had all his A list top fighters fighting on PBC. Then the ratings were bad and PBC likely has already lost more money they then anticipated and you saw a huge change in the second half of the PBC cards this year. Instead of top Haymon guys like Thurman, Garcia, Broner headlining you got names like Figueroa on the NBC primetime cards. Instead of names like Khan on the Spike cards you got names like Barthelemy. You see Haymon's A list fighters fighting back on Showtime like Broner and he's filling his PBC cards with his B and C class fighters because their purses are lower. If the fights on Showtime they pay the purses ect. If it's on PBC Haymon and the investors pay the purses. So it's about limiting the losses PBC Investors incur for the remainder of the year because they are probably well over their forecast or the amount they are comfortable losing in year 1.
So that's why you see fights that were first supposed to happen on PBC like Jacobs vs Quillen being moved to showtime and other big names moving back to showtime or taking off the second half of the year. And Thurman vs Porter is on ice with neither fighter taking any other fights while they figure out whether to throw it on PBC next year so it doesn't count towards year 1 losses. Hell maybe they are going to wait and see how the Fox PBC card does and if that tanks in the ratings like the PBC cards this year maybe they move the fight to Showtime all together.
But the fight will happen Thurman is not getting cold feet he's not scared of Porter. It's just Haymon trying to maneuver around PBC losses and figuring out what network to air this fight on.
I think the investors have lost more this year alone than they thought they would lose over the course of 10 years.Comment

I very much doubt Thurman is scared of Porter
Yes he struggled a bit with Collazo, but who hasnt struggled with Collazo apart for King Khan?
Keith probably thought Collazo was goin to be an easy task because he saw Khan outbox him, so it was probably a bit of a rude awakening for him...Comment
