Why is Thurman unusually quiet these days? Is that even possible in this social media age? Can't they ask him first, via cell phone, email, twitter, facebook, you name it, before asking whether he's reluctant? What exactly would you expect from the Porters for an answer? A self-aggrandizing response, of course.

Not in the long term strategy that PBC fighters take. Mathysse fought the hard fights this year for instance. When Khan was with GB he fought legitimately dangerous guys that had a real competitive chance like Barrera, Lamont, Maidana, Zab, Paulie, and Danny. Then after the Danny loss he started cherry picking.

Crawford has fought guys who legitimate competitive chance to beat him with little reward.(discounting Gamboa)

Canelo although carefully managed has taken fights that really were expected to go either way like Trout, Shane, Lara for once again not much reward.

If K2 is Golovkins team than yes they are cherry picking in the sense that besides Cotto and Canelo, there's nobody at 160 who has a chance. As for Quillin and Jacobs they don't and have never wanted anything to do with fighting Golovkin.

I could go on all day. Basically Top Rank and GB are in the fast paced professional boxing business and build stars. To build a star you have to take risks consistently because after all it is a competition sport. PBC is just milking casual fans for everything they can get it seems. Sure it's awesome seeing Guerrero vs Thurman Porter vs Broner and Algieri vs Khan on prime time TV but honestly I'm dissapointed with it. I expected it to have that wow factor and hosting the got to see match ups. What it basically is though is a reinvented Friday night fights hosting showcase fights. It has that cheap TV atmosphere like that of UFC, which I mean isn't a horrible thing, just not my taste. Haymon might as well keep it like this because PPV fights will always overshadow PBC with exciting big event feeling it gives off.

I've been a supporter of Thurman, but he needs to get a real name on his resume or lose what credibility he has.

I'll be disappointed if they can't get this one together.

How bout' Porter vs Bradley instead?

I would be cool with Porter-Bradley. I've just been set on Thurman-Porter, I think it will happen soon though

This is an interesting fight imo. Porter is all up in yo grill, unless you got some decent power then he tends to back off and tries to box. As soon as Kell had him timed and cracked him with some right hands he was a totally different fighter.

Thurman doesn't like pressure, he also has a horrible inside game imho, which is where Porter excels even if wild most of the time. Also, Porter does go to the body well, which could pose some issues for Keith.

But Thurman does have good enough power to back Porter up. Depends on who can impose their style. But if Thurman ducks this fight I will be pretty disappointed, I have been looking forward to this fight ever since it was initially brought up.

"Not in the long term strategy that PBC fighters take." The problem with your argument is that when Garcia vs. Matthysse took place, Haymon was Garcia's advisor. Haymon was involved with Khan vs. Garcia, Khan vs. Peterson. Canelo made his name vs. Haymon fighters, especially his biggest fight vs. Mayweather. There would be no GBP without Haymon and Schaefer. I won't argue with you, i'll let B-Hop speak for Haymon:

Hopkins also said the Showtime/HBO, Golden Boy/Top Rank “Cold War” was “foolish from the beginning. A lot of fans got hurt, and are still getting hurt to this day. They’re missing out on a lot of big fights. But it is what it is.”

There was one more potential surprise offered by Hopkins, who professed admiration for Haymon, who could become part of whatever remains of his twilight as an active fighter. That statement further suggests that boxing’s ageless wonder could soon be parting ways with Golden Boy.

“I have great respect for him, and he has great respect for me, going back to the day when he came into boxing with one fighter, my friend, Vernon Forrest, `The Viper,’” Hopkins said of Haymon, the Boxing Writers Association of America’s 2013 Manager of the Year. “I was on the other side from him when Al was representing Jermain Taylor.

“I don’t have a contract with Al Haymon, but I wouldn’t mind having one because he knows the business and he knows how to make the moves to get you where you need to be.”

Any word from One Time yet? Is it that hard to reach this guy in this age of instant communication?

Are we just going to assume he's reluctant to take this fight?

I knew it Thurman is not 100% , Thurman should give up the belt and comeback and winning when his 100% ready

Porter should go into the WBC tournament , he can have future figghts with Garcia, Khan, Berto, Peterson
