  • Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr. Warns: Floyd Should Avoid Long Layoff

Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of retired five division champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., has warned his son to avoid a long layoff. If his son intends to return to the ring, Floyd Sr. wants him to come back within seven months at most - or stay retired from the ring.

Mayweather will turn 39-years-old in February. He retired from the ring on September 12th, after winning a twelve round decision over Andre Berto.

Hes right. Therrs no one out there to fight that would elevate his status bcuz hes beat em all...let these up comers accomplish themselves instead of getn a May Pay Day and the notoriety that comes along with getn schooled by May.

If he is to fight again, fight someone who is accomplished themselves, fought and beat some great fighters themselves..not those MFers ducking each other in hopes of landing that pay day havent established themselves yet. Id say a Marquez or Pac rematc..someone with experience and in his age group

Ricardo Lopez, 51-0-1, he defended the WBC Strawweight Championship a record 21 times.

Not undefeated by the time of retirement, but still relevant:

Julio Cesar Chavez. He holds records for the most successful defenses of world titles (27), most title fight victories (31), most title fights (37), and the second most title defenses won by knockout (21, after Joe Louis with 23). Chávez's record was 89–0–1 before his first defeat.
