I don't see why not. He fought the top 4 every fight for 10 years and got guff about it each time. May as well give the people what they said he was giving them the whole time, a subpar opponent.

the layoff actually will probably help floyd considering it will probably be 1 year in between fights. he fought twice a year during his showtime deal thru inury and all. There is no question he was fighting thru injury in every fight broken hands and such. if anything it will help him heal up. Obviously we all think he will come back but im still not certain he will. but im sure if he is offered a huge pay day he wont be able to resist and im pretty certain the mgm will offer him way more then his fight is worth so that they can have him fight there at the new arena

If Canelo doesn't fight GGG in May I would love to see Floyd come back and ruin Oscar's plan for Canelo to take over the Mexican holiday weekends. Floyd could fight Karim Mayfield and MGM would move Canelo out of the main arena and put him at the kids table, Thomas and Mack.

I agree with Sr. If you plan on fighting again (which I always believe he was) then get it on in May. Waiting until September could be too long.
