Beating good opponents sometimes isn't enough. Kovalev has the what you want in a fighter, but he doesn't have what it takes to be a PPV star or a huge attraction unless he has a dance partner.
Thats it then. Kovalev is already half way there to being a mean as5hole - just say "fuck it" and go all in. Start calling Stevenson a pimp monkey and piss off the whole world - being obnoxious can = big $$$.

I actually like that he is mean and vicious and will flip off fans. We need a few bad boys in the sport.

Just don't be a racist prick.

        Bad Promotion

Sorry but Pascal is right. He isn't a big time ticket seller. It has nothing to with his skills or his fighting style.

I think it's his promotional team. Look at him and GGG perfect example. GGG has a good following compared to Kovalev who doesn't have an established one yet. Main Events need to market him better and be smart where they put his fights at

But I will say he still gets good TV ratings so that helps his case.

I also think he finishes Pascal sooner this time

I love Golovkin as a boxer but he has no personality as such. He drags on about "big drama show" - meanwhile Kovalev meets up with Stevenson and pinches and shakes Stevenson's cheek while he is laughing (and gets away with it without a reaction).

If you were casting a mob movie who'd you have in there? Golovkin or Kovalev?

What all this speaks to is the shitty job Main Events is doing. They can't even hype a Ward fight effectively.

I see you agree with me - it is down to this. Loeffler is meeting up with Frock in Europe and having a giggle with him - and Kathy? Nada!

              Two things:
              1. Pascal should leave his daughter at home this time. No daughter should ever watch her father getting beat down.
              2. All Haitian boxers seem to have a the penchant for shooting off their mouths and spouting off BS. Stevenson, Stiverne, and now Pascal.
The last guy that pissed off Kovalev was KTFO in less than 3 rounds.
              Should be a short fight.

If Kovalev took it upon himself to be more of a villain he'd have star power. Problem is his promoter is thinking he's going to be some sort of star on his own merits of just hitting hard, looking like Fred Flintstone & mumbling some **** every once in awhile on HBO. That isn't gonna happen. I'd have his ass calling everyone pieces of **** & monkeys. Kovalev is never gonna get a ****load of people coming to watch him win, he ain't that type of mfer, its easy as pie to see, but he's definitely a cat mfers will come to see lose. Be the bad guy Kov.

Dispite the language barrier concealing some of his personality flaws, Kov still shines as a translucent racist and hateful savage. Pascal is stating what most of us already know : Kov , as good of a boxer as he is , clearly is ignorant, uncultivated, ulgy and therefore has no appeal .

For sure his English is better than your Russian.

You would like him to have no appeal but he has some and if he would just throw out some more insults he'd have a lot more.

He is guilty of making racist comments. For whatever reason sometimes people who are not racist at heart make racist comments. I haven't seen enough to make a judgement as to whether he is truly racist at heart. The fact he is from Russia does not help, the fact he can meet with Stevenson face to face and joke with him will hopefully start to lead to him getting sensitized to race issues.

Uncultivated by whose standards? Yours? Show me some of your culture? Ugly - him? - he's not no oil painting - but how pretty are you sat there behind your keyboard?
