Stevenson has not even qualified. He's probably not the favorite for the Olympic Trials either.
Ruben Villa beat Stevenson twice this year. 2-0 against Stevenson, yet I don't see anyone hyping him up. I wonder why, he's American as well.
Even if Stevenson wins the Olympic Trials he still has to qualify. Even if he qualifies he won't Medal in my opinion.Comment

I know qualifiers are next week I think but he's pretty good from what I've seen. And shakur is going pro after olympicsStevenson has not even qualified. He's probably not the favorite for the Olympic Trials either.

Shakur has to win the Olympic trials and qualify first.
I'm excited for the trials especially for the Bantamweight division.
It's a three way fight imo. Francisco Martinez, Ruben Villa and Shakur Stevenson have an equal chance of winning the trials. Then they have to qualify so let's wait and see what happens before we start calling them Olympians.
Robeisy Ramirez is the one to look for in that division though. If he stays dedicated we could have another potential great in our hands. If he gets another Gold medal I hope they do everything they can to help him defect. He's about to be only 22 years old.Comment

Didn't Cuba sign away their amateurs pro rights to the WSB or something like that? Idk all the particulars of that situation, but my assumption was that would end the defecting for the purposes of turning pro cuz if they did defect the WSB could dispute their ability to fight professionally for anyone except the WSB. And I don't think anyone has defected since that happened. Marcos Forestal, who I believe to be the last to defect, did so before that deal went down.Comment

Chicanos r always forgotten about in sports thats y. People on nsb talk alot of mess about chicanos having no skeelz but besides the brothas, chicanos r the only ones holding down the amatuers.Stevenson has not even qualified. He's probably not the favorite for the Olympic Trials either.

I don't know all of the particulars either. You may be right though, which would suck.Didn't Cuba sign away their amateurs pro rights to the WSB or something like that? Seeing how Cuban fighters get treated in the US they may not be in a rush to turn pro anyway. Fighters like Ramirez, Toledo, Savon and Alvarez have a more pro style than Rigo and Lara though.
I just really want Ramirez in the pros. It would be a shame if we never see a talent like that in pro boxing. He's only 21 and already an Olympic Gold medalist. Who knows if he takes another Gold next year, but he'll be one of the favorites if he comes back in form.
WSB is technically not professional boxing though or they would be contradicting themselves. AIBA have said it's "semi-pro" and that's why WSB records don't go into a boxer's (who turns pro after the amateurs and who competed in the WSB) record.Comment
