I think it is very plausible to suppose Wladimir is slowing down with age. But it could also be that he did not take Fury seriously and didn't believe he had to train for the particular game that Fury brought.
In essence, it could be that Wladimir suffered from the Lewis syndrome, whereby he showed up very lazy to the fight which cost Lewis 2 fights and multiple other struggles as well.
If Wladimir still has what it takes to take out a young lion like Fury, then I think he will be sufficiently inspired now to make the adjustments and get the job done.
All I am saying is that it's certainly plausible by the closeness of the fight that a slightly sharper Wlad would have got to Fury.
A rematch is highly desirable. If Wlad loses, he signs out with Fury his clear successor, if he wins, Fury was still the one to end his streak of dominance spanning over a decade and marks the first time ever that Wladimir Klitschko was ever really outboxed!
