What happened to boxing?

Apparently boxing really does miss Mayweather, most of the threads on this site mention him one way or another. Hell I'm not a huge fan of his but I've grown to like Mayweather more due to the negative, hypocritical, double standards applied to anything related to him.Larry your boy Floyd Fawked it all up.
He took the lowest risk highest reward approach and now everyone wants to do the same. Floyd ducked his biggest challenges after moving up to ww and now you have the likes of Garcia, can't-nelo, little Gigi, lomenchencko, rigondeux and others doing the same thing
Fighters want to make that Floyd money but failed to realize the hard work he out in early in his career. That and the fact he needed that Oscar fight to catapult him to PPV star. He must have forgot because he didn't give someone the same opportunity.
Now you have all these divas and the sport is heading down the drain
It's like one day Mayweather is a criminal, illiterate, cherry picking coward; next day he's a new type of idiot savant /strategic mastermind, capable of knowing exactly when to fight an opponent while also being a promotional genius who just happens to inspire the entire sport of boxing and general public based on his illusion of skill......Comment

Someone needs to give Larry a wifebeater and a broomstick for Christmas so he can shoo the kids off his lawn.Comment

Also, the sport used to be for the fans. Remember, in olden times the fighters had to fight often and catch the interest of the public eye to actually make a livelihood from fighting. They had to bust their ass out on the road.Comment

Did Floyd ever fight for a vacant title? The biggest ball washer on the planet!
He can never find anything wron with Floyd
Everything Floyd has done in or out of the ring in perfect
Floyd fought all the riskiest fights and has the best rewind inthe history of boxing
Cheated JMM on the scales but he walks around at 150 doe
According to Larry he never fought at a CW
Keep washing them balls Larry you like Floyd are the best at it
Did he ever sue for a title?
Was he ever handed a title??
Did he not fight the top fighters in all 5 divisions he went to?Comment

So if a title is vacant should it just remain vacant? Because what you basically saying is that vacant titles don't count the but the fighter can't dictate that.
What the fight can do is defend the title against legitimate comp which is determined by rankings.
If said fighter won a vacated title and than defended it against 7 top ten fighters than guess what? That title holder is legit and the fact he won a vacant title matters very little.
Now stop defending Canelo and his made up weight class. We all know what your agenda is and it has nothing to do with the betterment of the sport.Comment

Most fighters would rather win a title in the ring, not receive as a consolation prize from the commission. What you described in the bold would indeed legitimize a fighter holding a title that was vacant when obtained...but it would take years to actually defend the belt seven times. So if a title is vacant should it just remain vacant? Because what you basically saying is that vacant titles don't count the but the fighter can't dictate that.

So basically the real outcome is that you're considered a paper champ or you fight for years to prove you actually deserve the title.Comment

I agree I remember I respect mayweather for the NO catchweight bull****, but then the only way he can beat canelo was the weigh drain him to win that title.I remember when being a champion meant something, now you can be handed titles or go to court and sue for titles. What happened to fighting a champion and EARNING a title? What happened to actually beating the best in order to call yourself the best? In todays boxing you can be p4p without even fighting anyone worth a damn, it is pretty sad, you don't have to really prove anything anymore. The fighters who actually beat people get criticized while the ones who beat up bottom tier fighters get praised..Then you have fans saying certain fighters"deserve a title" how the hell do you deserve a title? a title is suppose to be EARNED!!!! This is just a random rant from a boxing fan who supports greatness, yet i see that is frowned upon these days
And mayweather as the biggest influences int he sport everyone took suit and pretty much ruined the sport.Comment
