See back then you weren't even a fan of boxing. You take everything GGG says as gospel so read it and weep son
Jesus, look at the quote you posted, and look what he actually said. I know many boxing fans seem to struggle with critical thinking, but he said he'd only come down to 154 for big PPV. With a 154 fighter! Not I'll come down to 155, to fight a 160 champion.

It's right back to this erroneous belief that someone Canelo is a 154 fighter. Garbage!

      • FIomos who are mad Floyd didn't have the guts to face Triple G at 154 and CoWard didn't have the guts at 164 are trying to compare fighting at 164 against fighting at 155?

Umm how about Floyd nor Pacquiao even ever fought 1 pound above the previous limit to avoid fighting at the higher weight...

Pacquiao fought Cotto 145 and Margo at 151... 164 = in the middle of 160-168...

155 is just a disgrace.. it's embarrassing.. should only fight at 155 maybe once if you are planning on fighting at 154 and need a fight to get back down to the weight...

Dude is basically hiding out in a created-catch weight division while calling himself Middleweight champion and coming in the ring at 170+ on fight night..

        What a Mexican warrior

Another example of a Latino/Black fighter who doesn't have the guts to take a challenge...

Stop it. Triple G and Canelo on PPV would be huge...that's dumb to focus on the Lemieux fight when nobody really knew Lemieux...

I guess you are using the same logic you used when Floyd ducked Margo for Zab coming off a loss and Baldomir..

Also, he has NEVER fought at 160, so it would be plain ****** for him and his team to fight the top 160 fighter right now, having never experienced fighting at such weight limit.

Now GGG, needless to say, is EXTREMELY comfortable at 160. Just look at the long list of people he has already KO'ed at that weight limit. Of course there's no big name there yet, but middle weight is usually a division where big names are rare, IMO. Rubio and Lemieux are big punchers though and GGG simply obliterated them easily.

So to me, it is cowardly, from each one of these fighters, to ask the other one to get completely out of their comfort zone and adapt to the other's comfortable weight.

I think a compromise could be the solution. GGG goes down a bit, while Canelo "goes up a bit" (meaning he drains himself a little bit less, in reality a much better deal for him I think) to 157.5

It sounds more fair to me, but I am positive that Canelo would get destroyed at that weight or higher. He couldn't KO tiny Cotto even though he did hit him flush no less than 10 times easily. His huge problem is that he has no continuity. He cannot sustain a flurry of more than five punches at the very best, because of his stamina and conditioning issues, as well as how slow his legs are (and then he starts missing into the air and that can really tire out a hulkish guy like him, rather quickly) yet conversely, GGG can do that rather comfortably because he is more nimble and quick on his feet, at least compared to Canelo, and IMO has much better (or rather less bad) stamina and conditioning. That's why GGG usually KO's his opponent and I would believe he would be able to do the same to Canelo.

I'd rather see Canelo lose to a real fighter that fights like a man like GGG, even by KO, than having seen him lose to Mayweather in a boring pot-shotting and super-defensive-style blowout.

Not sure if Canelo really won vs. Trout (a TRUE fighter who actually attacked Canelo most of the fight and totally outlanded him) or Lara (a true coward, with great skills though, why did he never fight Mayweather?), but none of these guys hits as powerfully as Canelo does, even though their fight night weights were similar to Canelo's. Neither does Angulo. GGG would be the first time that Canelo would face someone who can actually knock him down and also defeat him by KO.

So, 157.5, a compromise, no cowardly weight advantage for any of the two guys, how does it sound?
How about 160? That's the actual sanctioned MW limit, as recognised by every sanctioning organisation in the sport, and the weight at which every world MW title fight was held for over 100 years, till Sergio got the bright idea of cashing himself out by selling a catchweight agreement to Cotto.

This will be the first mandatory defence of the WBC MW title since this bull**** started, and the first chance to end it.

Do you want to see world title fights decided by who is the better fighter, or by who can recover fastest after draining himself down to a weight 20lbs below what he's going to weigh when he enters the ring?

The last fight night weights we have for GGG and Canelo had Canelo entering the ring at 175, GGG at 169.

Canelo is actually the bigger of the 2 men. But because he is only 25 yo, and has plenty of experience playing it, he would no doubt handle the draining and rehydrating game better than 33 yo Golovkin.

That could give him a significant advantage in the fight, and I wouldn't call that fair at all.

            • IMO GGG should stick to his guns and demand that the fight be @ 160 or Canelo stripped as the former may just be proud enough to fight

It will then be interesting to see how red goes against someone his own size for a change

(Of course, the most likely scenario is that the WBC bends over and the farce continues)

He ducked Margarito to fight Zab coming off a loss. OK fine. But in his next fight, he fought Baldomir, who was the lineal champ. So on Planet GGG, he's a god. Because the lineal title is the tell all end all, right.

                  Lol...
You know how they are different. Hell, Canelo isn't even offering to meet in middle.

He wants to unify 3/4 of MW titles at 155. Get the **** out of here.

Any big fights, he'll go to 154 or 168. How the hell is that saying I'll fight a 160 fighter at 155.

GGG isn't allowing Canelo ***** ass to drain him.

It's about time someone stands up to you vagina ass *****es, who think it's ok to drain guys your own size.

Canelo as no issue fight little ass Cotto, but GGG, naw, he needs to come to my special weight class of 155.

And you defend that! But I'm the dweeb! Pathetic!

Canelo is a coward, it's not hard to see.

Champs trying to drag down divisional rivals even worse, and trying for lower division + 1lbs is lowest of the low.
that hatton fight was a bad move by canelo, that CW was just to give hatton some advantage and it was bad from canelo to fail on it too, i have no problem admitting that... and i do agree about CW on title fights, i want canelo-ggg but no title involved, canelo didnt even deserved the title shot to begin with, but then again, you can see that GGG is not about the titles either, he didnt care that the WBC allowed canelo to fight for the vacant title, when we all know he was supposed to be elevated once cotto was stripped, instead GGG was asking for his money, you know why? cuz he wants the canelo fight($$$) more than the title, and cant blame for that... at the end of the day GGG will come to some sort of agreement with canelo when it comes to weight and dates, the fight will happen at whatever date and weight those two decide and there is nothing we can do about it, heck maybe even HBO decides this before them ...

                    • Whether in 1 week or 1 year, Canelo will eventually have to fight @ 160 because his frame is just too big for the lower weights and guess who'll still be there
