I think Canelo had some fear mixed in with too much respect for Floyd. Why he didnt make it more of a fight is beyond me. It wasnt like Floyd was doing anything at all super natural or huge. He wasnt. Or.... Canelo took a payday. Meaning he was paid off.
Why was Mayweather able to back Canelo up?

Mayweather was just that good. Accurate, sharp and landing clean counters eventually discouraged a Canelo who wasn't yet prepared for Mayweather.
I do think the weight played a part too, Canelo was still big, but nowhere near as big, strong or generally solid as he was against Cotto.Comment

Mayweathers main attributes are his accuracy, defense, timing and controlling the distance, he managed to make Canelo miss by inches and then land crisp, accurate counters which discouraged Canelo, come the mid rounds Canelo didn't have an answer anymore and kinda looked lost, that was when Floyd managed to dictate the fight and walk Canelo down because Canelo didn't have an answer to Floyds tactics, in the end he looked happy to just accept it wasn't his night.Comment

Floyd took near complete control of space/distance; when Canelo wanted to throw a shot, Floyd either threw his own shot a step before Canelo could get his or he simply stepped off, forcing Canelo to reset.Comment

I'm not a fan of Canelo. Canelo knew the catch weight was the only way he was gonna land the Mayweather fight. Regardless, he was still drained. I can't give Mayweather credit for that win. Even Mayweather doesn't count that win lol.Comment

Yeah. There's an article on here where Canelo said he'll fight at 152, before the fight was signed.
Also De La Hoya and Canelo's team were saying the weight is an advantage to him because he will be quicker and less sluggish....
Strange that once he lost, they changed their tune. It's always the case.
Besides, like those 2lbs made a difference. The difference in levels was too great, it was very one sided and it would be again if they fought even at 154-155. Floyd is just too skilled for Canelo, always was and always will be. Canelo has nothing for him.Comment
