not to mention that golovkin doesn't pretend to be a super middleweight champion. the two situations are not remotely comparable

Remember when a lot of Little G fans were saying "Ward was willing to go to 160 for Mayweather" or "GGG is the A side he calls the shots".

Well guess what, Little G was willing to go to 154 for Mayweather and Canelo is the A side and he calls the shots.

Youre arguing from the point of view of rightiousness, from what ought to be rather than what is. Wake up man, this is boxing.
There are all the time? List 20 catchweight fights between 2 guys in the same division from this year. According to you, happens all the time.

Canelo fights in the middleweight division. GGG fights in the middleweight division. Now I realize that you're not a boxing fan, but for what reason do two guys who fight in the same division need a catchweight for?

It all comes down to weight, you can try and mask it anyway you want but take away the trinkets and what you have left is weight and one guy wanting to weaken the other.

Youre not still not getting what I am saying. It doesnt matter. I was not arguing from precedent, but meant that ****ty boxing politics can make anything happen. There is no principle to this.

We just saw Cotto and canelo fight for the MW title at 155. That just happened.

When GGG negotiates, lets see how much weight your question carries. Zero.

The bottom line is that if GGG wants it, he must chase. Thats it. Its on him

canelo is in golovkin's division and therefore has to fight golovkin. golovkin is not in ward's division so it's his prerogative to decide when/whether he wants to move up. it's not hard to understand mate

Same reason Little G wanted one for Ward, being in the same division doesn't change the intention of catchweights.
