Ward is jelly. Why can't he just be happy for his fellow boxer. Both guys have good resumes.

Present tense Golovkin's resume is crap compared to Ward's but you have no problem with it. Yes you have an agenda. Ward fights a tune up and you're outraged .Just come out and say what it is.
Have you been following Ward? He fought a tune up, Paul Smith and then tried to fight a guy even worse than Smith, a couple of them in fact that were so bad they were rejected and cried racism and unfair business when HBO didn't want to pay for them. He wanted and is still planning several tune up fights. Did he just get KTFO? Cuz that's what guys who get KTFO do and even then three tune ups is pushing it. You don't expect that from a world class fighter like Ward. But he gets his props based off his resume from years ago so it is what it is.

As for Golovkin not moving up yet, so what? He almost has accomplished his goal in unifying, no need to leave just yet since its in arms reach and it's not like Ward ever offered to fight him this year or anytime soon (he was talking about next year sometime). Further, Ward talks about it's unfair that he's being pressured to move up in weight, even though it's his own damn decision, and yet he has no problem trying to convince fans/media to pressure Golovkin to move up? Hypocrisy.

But for some reason boxing fans thinks it stops outside the ring....

Kovalev and Stevenson is the perfect example of racism and double standards. Kovalev has has numerous instances of racism, including but not limited to calling an opponent a "thoroughbred *******". Then he compared Stevenson to a chimp and people made excuses from "That's the way he was raised" to "He's not from here he didn't know that was offensive". I"m not from Russia and have never lived there but I have enough sense not to go around calling them drunk Ruskies. Comparing black people to monkey's is a no-no worldwide, not just in America. And even it it was only in America, he's been living here long enough to know it's wrong.

At 21 y/o Stevenson committed a horrible crime in which he was convicted, sentenced, and did his time. He's admitted what he did was wrong. He got out of prison and dedicated himself to boxing and hasn't been in trouble in 17 years. I'll give a 21 year old who has been in gangs since he was a teen more leeway than a 32 year old who is still being racist. Yet we still see people calling Stevenson a pimp, criminal and whatever else. He should be looked at as the American/Canadian dream. A man who made bad decisions as a teen and turned his life around. If people can't see the racism in the way the two are treated they're in denial.
What you failed to realize is that comments by Hopkins and Kov and any racist type remark does NOT compare to violent crimes against women and children that Stevenson performed! An no, he did not do his time because one of the two women were so frightened of revenge that she did not testify against Stevenson. And only a time period saved him from crimes against minors which changed at the time of his hearing. He emotionally and physically abused women and children and got a slap on the wrist. You are trying to compare two entirely different subjects which are not in the same universe as each other. What Stevenson did is 100,000 times worse than words from Hopkins and Kovalev and others. You need to stay on topic and not go all over the place and compare apples to tree stumps.

You just branded yourself as THE village idiot here. Your statement has got to be the most brainless statement ever made on these boards!

              • Really glad to be a Ward fan. Mean inside the ring, smart outside of it.

I hate PPV, but I'll pony up for Ward-Kovalev. Two guys that fight the best. No excuses. Boxing needs more of that and less hypejobs. Please, less hypejobs!

Racial crap aside Stevenson is still a horrible person! I don't care if he wen to prison, that doesn't erase his past or exempt him from criticism. Those women he helped to intimidate, assault and pimp will be emotionally ruined for life so he'll never get a pass from me.
Stevenson has never denied what he did was wrong. My point is that he has paid his debt to society and changed the person he is. As I said in my second post, I don't expect people here to understand because they don't come from where I come from or where Stevenson comes from. Stevenson hasn't gotten in trouble in 17 years and he made those mistakes as a teen/young man. That's amazing to me when i see *****s get out of prison and right back in a couple of months. My brother went to prison at 17 and has been in and out every since. It's hard as **** to stay out of prison once you've been. My father is 57 and still going back and forth to prison. That felony is like a scarlet F on you chest. Can't get a job but they expect you to pay those parole fees every month. You gotta lie on job applications and work until your background check comes back and they fire you for lying. Then you right back to square one. It's so much easier to go back to the hustle but Stevenson has rejected it since he got out.

I'll buy the PPV for sure. If there is one fight I will absouluteley pay for and feel good about it, it's Ward vs Kovalev. Two real top 3 P4P fighters, who earned their spot. Not phony "P4P" fighters pushed on their by media and fans for their style, who fights no-hopers.
