unless canelo gets seriously blown away then i doubt his popularity will take too much of a hit. he's too far along now to be written off as a hypejob

Canelo losing would be a bad setback but not a deathblow. Its just they won't be doing as many big shows.

Skim thru it and you will notice they have a bunch of fighters, but no one that can draw fans let alone headline PPv.. Besides canelo, the next biggest names are khan and lucas.. Both have seen better days and other have probably peaked in terms of drawing power..

They have a ton of prospects, but all are at least 2-3 years away from the big fights let alone PPv..

This is probably why Oscar has been ranting and raving recently.. He is feeling the pressure of gbp' future if the cash cow canelo gets beaten by cotto
I agree with you but the same can be said about Top Rank, PBC, Hearn. K2, Duva, etc... Once Pacquiao leaves Arum he doesnt have a PPV star, PBC has no PPV caliber fighters except Wilder but we are still waiting for that flower to blossom, and we already know Kovalev and GGG arent selling PPVs thats why this weekend plays alot into boxings future. A Canelo win generates a draw for boxing but Canelo doesnt have the unbeatable ora Manny (had), Floyd (has), or (huevos grande) like Marquez to break records or hold boxing afloat. Despite what people want to say, Manny vs Floyd did put a big stain on boxing and made it very hard for the up and comers to prove worthy of a $60+ ppv.

It would be pretty bad, but Canelo still has that HBO deal he would get like 1 fight to build back then fight Golovkin. So that is a couple big sows they would end up with to pull something out of their hat.

They can't just replace Canelo though so every hit he takes is a direct hit on the brand. Diaz and De La Hoya can be the good but it will take a long time for them to have real meaning to the company even guys further along like Ali they are a long way from being meaningful to the bottom line.

Same goes for almost any boxing company the top line guy sneezes everyone else in the company gets a cold.

Doubt it. Supposably they're going on a hiring spree in 2016.

I think a canelo loss will be disasterous for gbp... They have literally no one that can fill major TV dates on hbo.. Khan and lucas-- who knows when they will fight again.. Sorry but jojo diaz and diego de la hoya aren't ready for undercard boxing after dark, let alone hbo champiosnhip boxing, let alone actually headling...

if canelo loses,, most likely he will be brought back slow because they couldn't afford a 3rd defeat so soon afterwards.... Leaving gbp with few options in making headlining type fights..
                  Depends how Canelo loses.

Thus fight looks good and close. They could easily do a rematch.

Someone in boxing having a bad day & their future being over is becoming such a bad myth by boxing fans.

GBP is gonna be around years from now. Most promoters would wear the fishnets Oscar did for a year straight for his roster. And people acting like a guy like Canelo losing = he can't sell anymore is just silly. Win, lose or draw Canelo will still be getting ratings & PPV buys in his future. Win, lose or draw he's got more PPV buys in his future than what he's got so far (3.5M+ after Saturday probably).

                      Wrong

Someone said it here before that the same can be said about all promotional companies.I think is easier to weed out who are the so-called boxing stars..In my opinion, future PPV stars(because that is what we are talking about here) are
GGG,Kovalev,Felix verdejo, maybe loma, canelo and crawford amongst a few others and remember this is my humble opinion.we all can forget about adonis, ward, nonito, wilder, quilling and company.IN my opinion I cannot see Hamony making any super stars...Sorry I sidetracked from the original question, but doesnt GBP has Roman Gonzales?
