Golden boy promotions is done for if canelo loses

Here is the current gbp fighter roster off their official site

    http://www.goldenboypromotions.com/fighters/

Skim thru it and you will notice they have a bunch of fighters, but no one that can draw fans let alone headline PPv.. Besides canelo, the next biggest names are khan and lucas.. Both have seen better days and other have probably peaked in terms of drawing power..

They have a ton of prospects, but all are at least 2-3 years away from the big fights let alone PPv..

This is probably why Oscar has been ranting and raving recently.. He is feeling the pressure of gbp' future if the cash cow canelo gets beaten by cotto

Not really, hyping up fighters out of nowhere is not as hard as it used to.

So many people ready to d*ckride and bandwagon whether it is for country or for the fk of it, without said fighters ever having done anything real to deserve it yet.

All they gotta do is cook up another one. Not to mention is not like loosing means Canelo died...

boxing fans are way too quick to declare these things. so what if they lose? it's a minor setback, sure, but Canelo will still be marketable. Oscar De La Hoya is a name that will always carry weight in the mainstream, and Golden Boy Promotions still has good names in their stable of fighters. At least they're matching their guys tough and making fights we can be excited about. What's going on in Haymon-land? They have to treat an undercard caliber fight like Quillin-Jacobs as if it were a megafight, just because everything else is so ****

If canelo loses he will be pretty much in chavez jr land--- uncertain weight class, lost badly vs the best (serg, floyd) and lost to guys they were favored to beat (fonfara, cotto)

I think a canelo loss will be disasterous for gbp... They have literally no one that can fill major TV dates on hbo.. Khan and lucas-- who knows when they will fight again.. Sorry but jojo diaz and diego de la hoya aren't ready for undercard boxing after dark, let alone hbo champiosnhip boxing, let alone actually headling...

if canelo loses,, most likely he will be brought back slow because they couldn't afford a 3rd defeat so soon afterwards.... Leaving gbp with few options in making headlining type fights..

Jojo at best is 18 months away from headling hbo.. Guys like sadam ali, who are ranked, can't even headline hbo...

Literally, besides canelo, the only guys that can headline in 2016 and early 2017 is khan and Lucas. And khan maybe fighting a co promotion vs garcia or manny or Brook.. Lucas, who knows when he will be back, and he may take some tuneups off hbo to test the eye before going back on hbo again..

People said the same thing about Top Rank and nearly everyone else but Haymon. Why do boxing fans have such a hard time seeing the forest from the trees? Supposedly, boxing is dead right now because May/Pac was the last great fight. Yet, it's still very much alive. GBP will be fine.

I'm not saying they will be completely dead, but I see a company that has never really made a star besides canelo, and literally has no draws after him..

Top rank, and pbc both have a lot of fighters that can headline an hbo or showtime card and have always had that..

Most likely gbp will have no major fights in the first quarter of 2016.. Canelo and khan won't fight till April/may,, lucas probably even longer

Gbp is gonna drop from the top 2 or 3 promotions, to being 2nd tier and having few major TV dates like shaw, duva, dibella, etc..

Agreed. The pressure is on, and I think he's cracking.

I am so sick of the things Oscar says and does that I don't care if his company folds. It probably wouldn't change much. His boxers would just get promoted by someone else. Canelo won't lose in my opinion. Golden Boy has been around a long time and they will probably be around a lot longer.
