Cotto/Golovkin is not a viable fight at any weight. So I think we can drop the topic. Nobody inside boxing -- or anyone with common sense -- actually thinks Cotto is ever stepping into a ring with Golovkin.

Both Cotto and his trainer Kevin Roach have clearly aligned on the following talking point:

Golovkin doesn't bring enough money, we don't have to fight him. (Roach used to say he wanted a Golovkin fight, but he has clearly changed his tune.)

Cotto is a red herring. He's just plain too small for GGG. The real heat is around a potential Canelo/Golovkin matchup.

Where's the inconsistency there? As for unification, GGG will either be handed the WBC belt or he'll be fighting for it in the near future. Sounds like the unification plan to me.

GGG's handled Cotto's BS over the last year and a half with a whole lot of class and integrity. Maybe he will decide to offer a fight to Cotto at a catchweight now, so they can work it out in the ring.
      Aw get real willya.

Do you talk utter **** in front of your parents/family, or just us ?

Team Golovkin have been nothing but inconsistent, from the word go.

      The timeline.....

      First it was, " Golovkin: I'll fight anyone at 154, 160, 168 "
Gennady Golovkin, who might be the best middleweight -- hell, one of the best boxers, pound for pound -- who you don't know, was at Madison Square Garden scouting Sergio Martinez Saturday night.

Then Andre Ward announced his comeback.

      So it became, " Golovkin: I'll fight anyone at 154, 160, 164 "
Promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, who handle IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), says a fight can certainly be worked out

Then Ward said that he would consider a catchweight.

      So it became, " Golovkin: I'll fight anyone at 154, 160 "
      http://www.mma-core.com/videos/Abel_...ht_us/10102303

Then Cotto/Canelo both insisted upon a catchweight.

So now it is, " Gennady Golovkin eyes unification at middleweight "
WBA,WBC, and IBF middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin said he wants to fight the winner of November’s bout between Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

      Then Ward moved to LHW.

So NOW it is, " Golovkin Will Go Anywhere To Face Carl Froch! "
WBA/IBO/IBF middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) is still very interested in facing Carl Froch, according to the champion's head trainer A

The only thing that Team Golovkin have been consistent about is tip-toeing through the tulips and avoiding world-class opposition.

Another poster who does nothing but talk ****..........

That fight is viable at 154.

That fight is viable at 155.

That fight is viable at 156.

That fight is even most likely still viable at 157.

That fight is not viable, because YOU are not viable.

If you had any integrity you would hold Golovkin to his bull****.

I'm sorry, is there some flaw with wanting to not only take on the best competition, but to make as big of name for yourself as possible in the process by taking on huge fights?

If Cotto beats Canelo he will still be the Ring lineal MW champ, and GGG will be elevated to full title status by the WBC. So GGG vs Cotto would be a unification fight, with 3 belts plus the Ring lineal title on the line.

I don't think GGG expects it to happen, but if it did, it would be a HUGE fight. Not as lucrative as Cotto/Canelo, without the Mexican and Mexican American money that Canelo brings to the table, but, worldwide, GGG/Cotto would probably attract a bigger audience than Cotto/Canelo.

Golovkin would be crazy not to be interested in a fight like that, and might well be willing to negotiate a catchweight with Cotto to make it happen.

No, there is a flaw with saying that you will do one thing, then doing another.

                      It's called lying/hypocrisy.
