Exactly! The belt may be his by default if Cotto wins Saturday. So he has to be Cotto's biggest cheerleader.

He just wants pay days now.

Cotto is 34 or so and is.on his way out. Newsflash ,GGG. HE DOESNT NEED ANYMORE POPULARITY! You're the 34 year old with nothing on your resume. Cotto is about graduate and stroll into the sunset, GGG is a 10th year senior.

they don't need Cotto for that.....

lineage will be re-established once Cotto fights out of the weight class.

It's obvious GGG would be number 1 and all he would have to do is fight the number 2 guy.... which would be the winner of lee-saunders for the WBO belt.

I like GGG but this is true too bad others won't see that.

There's nothing wrong with this, a Cotto fight is lucrative and any one would want it.... belt or no belt. GGG wants to get paid like every other boxer. It's all about risk vs reward. Legacy will always take a backseat to that especially today when boxing is a business first and foremost.

It's just his a$$hat fans on the Internet that think he's on that unifying, legacy only bs and try to act like he's a cyborg from another planet that doesn't care or understand the concept or value of money.

Please don't flip flop ggg 's narrative for him , he's VERY capable and experienced at doing it himself .

Yes, it seems a strange statement to make.

If Golovkin REALLY wants that fight he will offer to come to 155 for it . . . .

It was clear to anyone with half a brain for over a year now Cotto was NEVER going to fight GGG and this week proved it for anyone who had a sliver of doubt. The money and all the rest is a smoke screen. The truth is Cotto was never a middleweight and only went up to cherry pick a title from a gimpy damaged good fighter. Never wanted to properly defend it against the best Middleweight in the world and it was only a matter of time till he was stripped so he said well I'm not fighting him anyway and if they going to take my belt I might as well save a few bucks in the process. If a non threat fighter was the mandatory he would gladly of paid the money to keep the belt. But the mandatory is GGG and win lose or draw against Canelo he is never going to fight GGG. If I'm GGG I don't even talk about Cotto anymore. Canelo is the fight that actually has a chance of happening. Canelo has already proven he will fight anyone. The only question is does he fight him right away but if he beats Cotto eventually that fight is happening.
