300k is the sanctioning fee (3% of Cottos purse) demabded by the WBC. Cotto wanted to pay less, WBC disagreed, WBC stripped him.

I dont really care about the belt or Cotto being stripped or whatever. But GGG should get his money. Cotto has already had the financial rewards of keeping the belt as it would have helped him leverage in negotiations and helped market the fight. GGG allowed that to happen for an agreed price.
Totally agree with this, this fight was billed heavily around it being a world title fight and only in the last possible minute Cotto decides to be an asshat.

videos sounds a bit different from the article... when he said, "we pay for them" he was referencing how the fighters have to pay a fee to fight for a belt in the ring.

Does anyone have a legit source that says that Golovkin did not get paid?

Everything I read either says that Golovkin already got paid, or a part of it. I'm pretty sure Golovkin already got paid. If he didn't, his camp would be raising way more hell than they are now.

The argument wasn't over 1.1m, it was over 150k:
Cotto wanted to pay 150k for sanctioning fee, and WBC didn't agree.

Why would they be raising more hell?

Everyone gets paid immediately after the fight.

"Cotto told reporters he was willing to pay Golovkin in full, plus the $150,000 for the WBC sanctioning fee from a purse reported at $10 million, but no more. The WBC asked for its $300,000, Cotto declined, according to the official, and the title was stripped."

From that same article. Cotto tried to negotiate with WBC... they said no straight off the bat.....

            300k is A LOT.....

Anyone remembers how much WBO was charging floyd for the belt? Cuz if I remember correctly it was around 200k.... and that was for the floyd-pac fight.

No legit source, but Cotto seems ckear in his quotes and his interviews that he is saving 1.1million, not 150k.

If you can't fight the best, you're no champ in my book. Even less of a champ if you fight the competition at a catch weight.

Nope, but read most of the articles related to it when I made my post. So still somebody isn't telling the whole truth either way. Still would find it hard to believe Loeffler would not have demanded partial payment upfront of at least some amount of that step aside agreement amount.
