Las Vegas - As previously reported, Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya was not a happy camper when he found out Tuesday morning that Miguel Cotto had dropped the WBC middleweight championship.
This coming Saturday night, De La Hoya's star fighter, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, will face Cotto in the main event of an HBO Pay-Per-View card from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.
According to Cotto, there was a serious disagreement with World Boxing Council over the involved sanctioning fees.

Honestly he's right man. Hell with that I wouldn't want to pay that either. For what?? He's the champion he knows it and if Canelo wins he defeated a real champion who defeated the former middleweight champion. Everything is good.Comment

I don't need belts. I have enough belts in my house and with $1.1 million dollars I can buy any belt I want and I can be the champion of whatever I want in my houseComment

Only the three amigos involved, just to show who´s running things inside the ring even if queen Cotto is running them outside. And for the record: my money is (literally) on Cotto, but unlike you I won´t suck his ****.Comment

this will be the one time i side with the WBC. i understand that they're trying to gouge cotto for money, and i don't agree with that.
the ends justify the means, howver. cotto is not the middlweight champion of the world. he beat martinez' dead body, and he's holding the championship hostage.
