    Obvious question:

How is this $300k "sanctioning fee" amount established? Who sets the amount?
The head of the WBC is Mexican. Would the amount have been the same for Canelo had he had the belt?

To me it looks like legalized extortion.... and I'm glad Cotto told them to **** off. He's always done things his way.... not about to stop now.

Wrong Oscar! Nobody gives a **** about the WBC belt. Cotto is the world champion because he beat the champion (Martinez). It is pathetic that so many mindless younger fans are so brainwashed by alphabet bull**** that they think linear titles don't mean anything. YOU'RE WRONG!!!! It's bull**** alphabet titles that mean nothing. I do, however, believe that if the winner of Cotto-Alvarez doesn't face Golovkin next, they choose to vacate the title.

Especially when the WBC is just going to strip him of the belt two weeks after the fight for not signing to fight GGG. Makes no sense at all to pay 1.1 million dollars to rent the belt for two more weeks.

Lineal titles can only be won or lost in the ring. Your beloved Little G isn't going to be part of the lineage unless he beats the man who beat the man etc.

Calm down, I believe you... about the WBC. If they enforced their rules, this wouldn't happen. A pliable entity that gets dictated to by it's divas, but squeezes the small guys. Is rocnation any better?

This is just a way to DROP THE BELT without looking like you're handing it over to GGG without a fight.

I can't see why it matters. Cotto isn't going to beat Canelo. No freaking way. He's going to be taking a knee and collecting his money and breathing a huge sigh of relief.

Smart move. Save some cash and step out of the crosshairs. Just in case he wins this fight. As if.
