How is this $300k "sanctioning fee" amount established? Who sets the amount?
The head of the WBC is Mexican. Would the amount have been the same for Canelo had he had the belt?

Yours lol......lineal don't mean jack**** if your not gonna respect the belt and defend it.....I gurantee you now cotto walks away from boxing after the weekend and enters retirement....he won the WBC title from Martinez and that was hand in hand with the lineal title...the lineal title is bestowed on a fighter that will fight all callengers and honour his mandatory's like a the best fighter of that divsion.....seeing as cotto as no intention of getting ripped to shreds by golovkin....the lineal wil be removed by the ring magazine and they have already stated that will happen if cotto fails to defend the WBC belt against golovkn

Wrong Oscar! Nobody gives a **** about the WBC belt. Cotto is the world champion because he beat the champion (Martinez). Why would anyone pay a 1.1 million dollar fee just to hold the belt? I mean, its not rocket science here.

Las Vegas - Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya was not a happy camper when he found out Tuesday morning that Miguel Cotto had dropped the WBC middleweight championship.

This coming Saturday night, De La Hoya's star fighter, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, will face Cotto in the main event of an HBO Pay-Per-View card from the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

I can't see why it matters. Cotto isn't going to beat Canelo. No freaking way. He's going to be taking a knee and collecting his money and breathing a huge sigh of relief.
