Because they want a sanctioning fee. This is essentially Canelo fighting for a vacant title. It makes no sense.

Why should the title not be at stake for him? Because Cotto wants to be a diva and not do what literally every champion in the sport does, (pay sanctioning fees) the belt should just be given to GGG? When the contract was signed it was for the WBC championship. Either way if Canelo wins he becomes lineal champ, with or without the title.
