Let me be clear, I am not a fan of Holly Holm... I won't watch her next fight and I didn't stay up to watch this one either. I woke up to the news.

My whole issue with this was when people started preaching that Ronda could beat men and specifically Mayweather. I don't expect people to like Floyd but even if you hate him but love the sport then you can't feel good reading those Rousey and Dana White interviews talking about how she ragdolls him.

I don't have an issue with them saying McGregor could do it but Rousey??

Nah fam... I can't say I'm a fan of boxing and sit back and accept BS like that.

However the only reason that these fools even know of Holly was because she got spotlight in an MMA fight
They dont even know that Holly has been fighting in MMA for 5 years now. Was a kick boxer as well as a pretty good boxer. An all rounded total fighter.

They make it seem as they picked a Female Boxer out the ring and threw her in an octagon.

I get where you're coming from 'cause I always thought those Ronda vs. Floyd match-up topics were ****** as well.

THIS is the highest moment of Holly Holms career as a MMA fighter it eclipses everything she ever did as a boxer and it likely will spell the death of female boxing because why bother with a sport that shows absolutely nothing to its female athletes?
A win for boxing you say?
I say it's a loss for boxing not only does this show lady athletes female boxing is useless it shows MMA is the path for them to follow, it's in all honesty a hollow claim of victory for pathetic people.
This is nonsense. Holly was a former boxing champion, who also has kickboxing experience. Those skills won her the fight, combined with Rousey's poor gameplan of trying to strike more often then trying to takedown. Rousey is a Judoka at heart, and it's always been obvious she can't punch at an elite level.

Champions in UFC typically are not the generic "MMA" you hear people training. They're accomplished in a single art first, then branch into MMA. Most of the people in MMA are jack of all trades, while the champions are masters of 1. Rousey was known for breaking peoples arms, then she strayed too far away from that, and got beaten by somebody who's known to KO everyone.

Chuck Lidell, Matt Hughes, GSP, Rousey, Silva etc. have spent a significant amount of time in a single martial art before branching into UFC. They leaned proper fundamentals first, then advanced. This made them some of the most dominant champions in that sport. It has nothing to do with Boxing vs MMA.

It's just talk - hell that poster here "Golovkin" talks about being able to beat the crap out of a multitude of fighters, and he's some random pancake flipper at IHOP

For me its like, if you aren't arrogant and don't have an ego, then the fight game isn't for you. People's problem w/ Ronda is she isn't really a good sport pre-/post fight with the whole not shaking hands - but hey that's how she amps herself up with fights so its whatever.

Last night though, she stood behind as Holly got her hand raised and she embraced Holly and they spoke in the octagon.

I love the story line. Happy for Holly too. Couldnt happen to a better person IMO. She conducted herself like a professional and champion before the fight and throughout the press conferences and became the champion at the end of the fight. MMA made some history. Good for them. As for Ronda...she will bounce back.

I do like MMA in general.

I'm just not interested in women's MMA, or women's sport in general. To me it's just like watching a slower, crappier version of the proper sport.
