If boxing returned to the original eight divisions, think of all the match-ups that could be made since so many fighters would be in each division and would be forced to fight each other.

We'd have Viktor Postol, Tim Bradley, Terence Crawford, Ruslan Provodnikov, Lucas Matthysse, Adrien Broner, Jesse Vargas, Kell Brook, Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan, Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Diego Chaves and Danny Garcia all competing for the same world title. How many awesome match-ups would that produce?

With so much social media these days, it is hard to picture the divas getting away with such ridiculous demands over a long period of time without developing a terrible reputation which would cause the sanctioning organization to eventually insist they man up or strip them of the title.

I mean, think of it.

Only 8 world champions in boxing. All of these paper champions would be contenders, which they should, but nothing more. Even in a weak era, the cream would rise to the top and be very apparent. There would be much less confusion and how could there be much ducking? There would be some as always, but a fighter could not claim to be a champion while ducking his obvious adversaries.

It would be better for the sport even with all the titles, the weight classes would be deep

I think they should keep Cruiser though, these damn behemoths are too big for someone weight 180-200

These aren't the 6'1" 185 pound heavyweights of the 50s and earlier.....Even Ali would be a smallish heavyweight today


Imagine how deep welterweight and middleweight(IMO most the contenders would be the 154 guys)....featherweight would be amazing

One belt champion Would never happen....boxing to corrupt with different promotions/promoters and governing bodies......it could also be bad for boxing as well with all the fighters you may not get to see all the fights you wish even less than you do today. Theres not enough damage control to make sure top fighters fight each other. Having more belts sometimes helps.Boxers in top 5 should be mandatory to fight eachother no one lower ranked,would fix many things.


The 8 weight classes would work.
