Kovalev fights tall and reminds me of Wlad in that his main defence is control of distance with footwork. He seems to have very quick reflexes, and will step back out of range of a punch the instant his opponent even starts to throw it, then straight back in with a counter before they have chance to reset.

Both are pretty athletic, but, of course, very different in physique.
Most people with boxing brains know GGG is the more skilled and p4p more physically strong opponent.

Kovalev is a great fighter, one of my favorite but he has shown flaws that GGG hasn't.

I hate when people degrade GGG resume and overrate others it shows a total lack of knowledge and proves that people just look at names.

And I agree with your assessment on the difference in their defense. GGG style has allowed him to get hit less and Kovalev style has allowed him to land punches from odd angles.

I know Geale is by no means a Hopkins, but he counter KOd him with one punch and took him out. GGG is the king of setting up traps, I'm sorry but Kovalev is not on that level imo.

GGG will give you a hook to the top of the head and go downstairs and break your ribs in one move. I have yet to see Kovalev to that.

I'm not saying Kovalev does everything worse than GGG by any means. But GGG has more punches in his arsenal from what I've seen.
GGG is exceptionally good at using faints and "ghost punches" to decieve opponents. He can also alter the trajectory of a punch just before it reaches the target, without losing power.

Check out this vid of him KOing Rubio. He throws a left hook, which was actually a feint, then a right uppercut almost immediately after. Rubio reacts to the left hook, and completely misses the uppercut coming behind it. And the uppercut is the one GGG follows through with his bodyweight.

Am I the only one that watched the Pascal fight? Kovalev got hit with everything but the kitchen sink in that fight, and it was'nt like Pascal threw a lot of punches. He pretty much hit Kovalev everytime he decided to let his hands go. Kovalev's offense is his defense. It is pretty much Jackson's approach to training and Kovalev executes it almost perfectly. We've seen GGG tagged in a round here and there, but never on that level, not even close in fact. So while I agree that Kovalev has shown more against better opposition, this fairy tale that GGG is easy to hit really needs to go away.

You're wasting your time explaining anything to guys like Dirk who aren't even Kovalev fans. They'll find any loop hole to argue their point but most guys that know boxing say GGG is the more skilled of the two.

But who cares they're both excellent fighters and the haters are just trying to drive a rift between the GGG and Kovalev fans.

In one round. Pascal tagged Kovalev the entire fight. GGG has never been hit like that, ever.

The fact that I'm not a rabid fan of either fighter shows that I can judge objectively without bias who is better.

The fact that you would drink GGG's bath water if given the chance shows you can't.

I would have to go back and watch the Pascal fight. I don't remember Pascal having much success until he got desperate and started winging wild shots.

I've seen GGG hit quite easily in a number of fights against far worse opponents than Pascal.

You're a clear GGG hater so that in itself makes you bias.

If people would stop being bias I probably wouldn't even post about GGG. But I call bull**** when I see it and will say something when any fighter is being unfairly judged.

Just be fair and stop using the word bum for clearly good fighters because until then I can't take anything you post seriously or consider it non-bias.
