Manny sells good in Asian markets, 1/4 of the world? Obvious. If Manny was black or Latino, just another great fighter.

    If white, kovalev.

But boxing is beyond races, if not, it should be. It must be. Manny was a great one dimensional fighter!

Most of the new "fans" jumped into boxing because Manny showed in a "Water Boy" fashion, "you can do it!".

Manny brought in new fans. De La Hoya was pretty, & brought in female fans. (Pre-fishnet-photos) My wife, who thought he was handsome now calls him all kinds of negative gay stuff now. Careless whisper quear, etc.

Manny brought in his fan base with his Asian-esq looks, & his rags to riches compelling story. From street selling doughnut man, to PAC-MAN!

This white star that Floyd speaks of, grew up in conditions western "hardcore" players can't fathom. Skin color is not relevant now, hunger is!! They are hungry!

Damn for such a defensive genius as Floyd it sure seems like he has suffered a great deal of brain damage in his career.
Floyd's point is clear, fans don't want to see GGG in the ring with someone that could beat him, this is why the majority is against the GGG vs Ward fight, even though any boxing fan that only watches for the love of the sport should demand this fight to happen before Ward fights Kovalev so that we get 2 great fights instead of 1, but fans trying to find any reasons for this fight not to happen and for Ward to fight Kovalev, this is what Floyd is 100% right about.

There was a reason for people to hate on Floyd Mayweather apart from race, that was his persona and character that he sold to the world, and that worked for him, Ward is however the exact opposite of Floyd, yet still he became the most hated fighter in the world once he became a threat to GGG.

the art of being smart is to know what to overlook....overlook Floyd's OPINION about boxing trying to create a white star....focus on the FACT, the machine is definitely keeping Ward from putting hands on little g....it's clear and blatant....love is blind though so those who support little g will dispute the obvious....Floyd knows the sport better than any of us here...so let's not act like his OPINION shouldn't be taken into consideration...he knows what gets said and done behind the scenes probably better than ALL of us here...so just take it for what it's worth and don't take it personal....the anti-black crew be laying in the bushes waiting for threads or comments like the one Floyd just made....Floyd just activated the NSB race terror cell

For such a defensive fighter who takes very little hits, Floyd can say some of the dumbest things, and this quite frankly may be one of the dumbest statements he has ever said.

Ward is then pressured by HBO to commit to a Kovalev fight instead. I mean it's obvious what they want to happen.
Yeah they made an offer when GGG had already signed for another fight. Great.

It makes sense for Ward to move up. There's a mega match for him at LHW, also, 168 has been dead for him for years. He literally has nothing to gain by staying there.

HBO want Ward vs Kovalev and GGG vs Cotto/Canelo winner.

Both of those match ups make more sense than GGG vs Ward.

What about GGG Ward AND Ward Kovalev AND Cotto/Canelo GGG? why wouldn't any boxing fan want to see 2 great fights instead of 1 or 3 instead of 2, the reason is simple, there are VERY few BOXING fans, the majority are BOXER's fans. A boxing fan would demand all fights cuz they would all be great, a boxer's fan will demand only the fights that his favorite boxer can win and try to find reasons for all other risky fights not to happen.

Fanboyism at its best. I don't recall Floyd fans talking about him not needing to fight Pacquiao, everyone asked for the fight but the whole argument was about the negotiations and terms of conditions like testing and money split, in the case of GGG his fans don't even want the fight with to be negotiated and giving excuses like Ward is not a draw and all the bs that has nothing to do with the actual fight. And these are of course the same people who criticized other fighters for making business decisions even though they were already proven HOFers.

... so it was a conspiracy to "force" Ward to move up at 175? Really?

... Let's remember who and when first said about moving up at 175... It was Ward, back in 2012, right after the Dawson fight...

Andre Ward says he could move up to 175 soon

                  September 23rd, 2012

                  By Dan Ambrose

WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward revealed that he's considering a move up to light heavyweight real soon. He feels that it's tough for him to get big fights at super middleweight now, and will be speaking to his team about a move up in weight to 175.

Ward told Jim Lampley on his HBO Fight Game show last Saturday night "I don't think so [getting a fight with Sergio Martinez] for the moment due to the weight difference and size difference. All the talk from the Martinez camp is that Ward has to come down to 160. I think they mentioned 164. But I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to be at super middleweight. For me to get down to 160 or 164, I wouldn't be any good at it. It wouldn't be good for my career. So at the moment I don’t realistically think that fight [against Sergio Martinez] is going to be made. I think I would be very strong at the weight [175]. I’m not even the biggest super middleweight, so I know the fighters at light heavyweight would be even bigger. But I know the ideal situation is to go to 175 and not come back down. There's not a lot of options at 168. So in the coming weeks my team and I need to put our heads together and get creative in terms of what’s going to be next."

What does that have to do with people not demanding potential GREAT fight between Ward and GGG only because Ward is a threat to GGG? Why would anybody be AGAINST a potential GREAT fight between 2 great fighters? I don't understand that? The move to 175 was inevitable for Ward, but why can't we first see Ward vs GGG AND then Ward vs Kovalev if Ward beats GGG? GGG fans KNOW that if Ward moved up to 175 he won't come back down to 168 and this makes their fighter safe, that's why they're pushing for Ward to move up. And even though Ward had planned to move up, he was still willing to go through making 168 to face GGG, nobody told GGG to face Ward at 175.
