Floyd is talking complete garbage. And having seen what passes for rational thought with the Muppet Show, I'm not surprised to see Ward's so called "fans" here all agreeing with him.
So here's a couple of questions for ya'll: Is Andre Ward "daring to be great" by moving up to 175, or being forced to do it against his will, like Floyd says?
And if Andre is so good - the undisputed P4P No1 now Floyd has gone - why are ya'll whining about him being forced to fight Kovalev instead of celebrating that he's being given a shot at 3 world titles as soon as he comes back, instead of having to fight his way back into contention like anybody else would have to?
Just think..... if you supported a fighter who has actually done something within the sport, and who is willing to fight someone with a pulse..... you would have something to be positive about, and you would not need to spend all day trying to bash a real fighter
Lol...you mean once GGG decided he wasn't going to fight Ward. He and his team still say they'd be willing to go to 168. Just not for Ward.
HBO wanted a guarantee of a big fight from Ward and since they want to keep him away from Golovkin, they need it to be Kovalev since all the other champions at 168 are unavailable to them or not big fights anyway.
They also need someone for Kovalev to fight with their ongoing inability to make the Stevenson match.
Golovkin wouldn't go to 168 for Ward because there wouldn't be enough money in it. There are bigger fights for him in his own division.
The only rational reason that HBO could have for matching Ward and Kovalev is that Roc have told them Andre can't make 168 any more. As I said, Ward/Kovalev in 2016 would not be a particularly big fight. Unless Ward does something to raise his profile with US fans soon, there probably won't even be enough money in it to pay he and Kovalev's wages.
Nobody needs to do anything to keep Ward away from Golovkin because they are in different divisions.
GGG/Lemieux was PPV because they wouldn't have been able to fund it without that extra revenue. Lemieux wanted $1.5 million to put his title on the line. Understandable, but Monroe Jr was only paid $100k in GGG's previous fight.
I don't get it why HBO would need to move Ward to 175 to keep him away from Golovkin. GGG is a MW, ffs.
If I had 3 unbeaten world champions on my books, all in different divisions, the last thing I would be thinking about is matching 2 of them with each other. Keeping them all apart and dominant in their own divisions for as long as possible would be a much better idea.
People talk about Ward already cleaning out 168, but Abraham is the only current top 10 SMW that Ward has already fought and beaten. And even if he couldn't get any of the other title holders to fight him, Andre is still the WBA SMW champ, and universally recognised top dog at 168.
If he defended his WBA crown against any half decent contender, that could be built into quite a big fight. A series of successful defences would make it impossible for the other belt holders, or the fans, to ignore him.
My opinion is that Ward can't make 168 comfortably any more, and that's what is actully forcing him up to 175, not "the powers that be".
His explanation for the 172 catchweight for Paul Smith was that he'd gained weight while inactive, and he wanted to see how his body would react to coming back down close to 168 again. People seem to have forgotten about that.
I don't think you know too much about this sport, let me explain.....
1) HBO/K2/team Golovkin know that Gennady cannot beat Ward, which is why Golovkin won't fight him.
2) GGG has 0 options at 160, but is not willing to move up and take a risk
3) GGG cannot consider options at 168, because the Ward situation is becoming embarrassing for him
Ward fighting at 168 restricts Golovkins options considerably.
Any unbiased/knowledgable observer can clearly see that.

When Froch was originally asked abut fighting GGG , he said "*** that , the guy hits like a mule , imma swerve him" . No one called Froch a b.tch , as we all just saw it as brute honesty . If GGG took the same route vs Ward when asked by reporters about him I don't think he would catch half as much flax . It's the phony posturing and pretend games people don't like .
What evidence do you have that HBO wouldn't allow Ward to defend his SMW title? And how could they stop him from doing it if he wanted to?
Once GGG decided he was staying at 160 to unify, he was no longer an option for Ward.
If Roc told HBO that Ward could still make 168 comfortably and that he wanted to stay there and defend his title against the best opponents available, they wouldn't be asking him to move up for Kovalev.
Why should they? Ward/Kovalev in 2016 would not be a big fight for anybody but hard-core boxing fans.
HAHAHAHAHA
You mean, once Ward made a comeback, 168 was not an option for GGG

It's the utter fkn lies that get to me.
The thing is this..... we put up with that dribble for 5 years from Arum and Pac..... now Team Hypekin pull the exact same rubbish.
Pacfans were dumb as fk for believing all that ****, and now pretty much the same fanbase are happily being lied to again. Seriously dumb cvnts.
En****** use hype/lies/PR/marketing strategy to fool the fans..... because it works..... because casual fans are gullible as hell.
Golovkin fans, we aren't the silly cvnts who have been left out to dry.
