Who? DeGale? You're not making any sense. First you said no one cares about DeGale now you're saying everyone was rooting for him. Which is it?

Froch v GGG fight would build momentum very rapidly in the UK too.It would certainly be the bigger fight worldwide and possibly in the UK. I know a few people who don't like GGG for whatever reason will say nobody in the UK knows who he is, but it's simply not true, they just don't support him in the same way they support home grown talent. If he was to fight Froch pretty much everybody from the UK who has ever paid for a Froch PPV would pay for it.

I mean who from the UK would pay to watch Kessler fight when it's not against a guy from the UK? Nobody. But when he fights froch ...

Froch v Degale would be a big fight in the UK but drop without a ripple everywhere else.

Anyway I'd be happy with either fight. Both of them would be very tough tests for Carl imo.

Damn you're ******. If you're an average parochial Brit, you'd rather watch an unpopular Brit win than get slaughtered by a foreigner, right?

PPV numbers are driven by the casual fan and the casual fan or the average man on the street doesn't know or care who GGG is.

The casual fan will be drawn in by a brash mouthy British gold medallist like DeGale rather than a goofy Kazakh fighter with broken English.

Froch-GGG would be bigger than Froch-DeGale in the US but Team GGG probably wouldn't do the fight in the US because they can't draw there either and they'll lose UK PPV buys and ticket sales.

How can DeGale be "unpopular" but at the same time everyone is "rooting for him"? That doesn't make much sense.

They didn't know who was going to get slaughtered or not. Casual fans don't know anything about boxing. They'll watch boxing if they've heard of the names involved and clearly no one cared about Golovkin or Murray for that matter.

well maybe, I'm not going to claim to be an expert bean counter. But it's like with kessler. Nobody from the UK watches his fights or would pay for a PPV with him in it. But they know he is the bomb and he fights Froch in the Uk and it's BIG. I think it would be similar with GGG (and bigger than that). Degale may be bigger than GGG in the UK but not by enough to overwhelm the American money imo. The fights are at least comparable in scale at worst so I think arguing over one being way bigger than the other is a bit mute.

Comes down to which one Froch wants tbh and like I said either one would be tough. personally I'd rather the GGG fight but would pay for a degale fight too.

Kessler fought Joe Calzaghe in front of a 50k crowd in the UK. He'd already fought Froch once before. He was far more known to the UK audience than GGG.

I still think DeGale-Froch will do more than Froch-Kessler II did.

The American market isn't where the money is. It will be on regular HBO in the afternoon if the fights in the UK.

Not everyone, only those tuning in. And isn't sports betting really big in the UK? Even if you missed Murray's prohibitive odds, you'd know your countryman had zero chance minutes from tuning in.

You're boring me. You should email BS UK editor and ask for retraction on " by far the most lucrative "

And before that fight how many people from the UK had paid to watch Kessler fight? The fight was still huge in the UK because we knew he was badass. GGG is a bigger name in the UK now than Kessler was before the Calzaghe fight.

Froch v GGG would be a big fight in the UK period. Discount the american money as unimportant in the equation then if you wish. I'm not too pushed about the issue anyway. As I said either fight would kick ass. and both would be very big
