Carl Froch’s former promoter Eddie Hearn has spoken to Boxing Scene about today’s comments from the former world super middleweight champion about at a possible comeback.

The now 38-year-old had spoken about a return to action next spring possibly against IBF champion James DeGale. Froch hasn’t fought since his spectacular knockout of George Groves in May 2014 at Wembley Stadium and retired from boxing in July this year.

I think Ward is at light heavy and Froch is at Super middleweight

Why would he want to fight ward, too high risk compared to the low reward. He could fight basicly everyone else and get more dough, plus they already met, Froch already also said that Ward would probably win if they met again. Why do people even want to see that fight again. I want to see a good last Froch fight, not some drawnout chessmatch. I think Froch beat GGG.

I'd personally prefer the Golovkin fight but DeGale is a bigger fight in the UK so I'd see why he'd take that.

Golovkin would probably give him a savage beating, so as a Brit and a Froch fan, I'd rather it was DeGale.

Carl's just talking. DeGale's not even an attraction, without Haymon's hedge-fund money he'd still be making peanuts. All moot anyways given in a few weeks he's losing to Bute.

It's an interesting choice. On one hand, DeGale is in his weight division, is a champ, and is also British. On another hand, DeGale isn't that liked in the UK and has traveled abroad for his biggest purses. His take in Bute is supposed to be ~$2m, a career high. Considering that was Golovkin's last purse, one can argue that GGG may be more popular than DeGale. One (not saying it's the greatest) way to compare the two is to look at Google buzz for both names in the UK - they had similar popularity from 14 to 15, with Golovkin a slight favorite today. It's not a given that DeGale would be better for Froch financially.

It may also look slightly bad for Froch if he chooses DeGale after all the 'too big too strong' mentions he had about Golovkin - it may look like a duck to some fans.

I have no problems with either match, would be very interested in either Froch/GGG or Froch/DeGale.
