But James DeGale was fighting bums, it's not like anyone was giving them a chance against DeGale....why did he draw more ratings in the UK than global megastar GGG?

I'm talking facts and figures here, not opinions.
Does Degale usually bring in the higher numbers or is the Murray example just about the only one since Golovkin has come into the scene?

That was Golovkin's only fight on free TV in the UK....against a Brit for a world title and no one in the UK watched it.

Didn't answer my question. But all I know is I hear people talking about Golovkin and I can ask people who aren't fans of boxing(UFC fans) about Golovkin and they'll know him. Never heard anyone bring up Degale, might try asking if anyone knows him sometime. Ireland btw.

P.S We should consider Degale Gold medalist fighting in the UK where the promotion would be alot better due to the fight taking place there has an affect compared to Golovkin vs Murray, who despite being english most in the UK probably don't know(an assumption, correct me if I'm wrong).

Cause they could more easily identify with the odds on winner. Now if most of UK saw Froch as the sure loser you'd have a point.

hearn seems to be throwing GGG in the mix a lot more than froch does. I heard froch talking about a degale fight recently alright ... not so much about a GGG fight. Either would be great but I think the vast majority would prefer a GGG fight, which would be a big international event as opposed to just a UK event

In the UK, where it matters for this fight, Degale is undoubtedly a bigger draw than GGG. No question about that.

I did answer your question. The Murray fight was on primetime free TV in the UK - that's where you're supposed to pull your highest ratings. But he didn't even beat DeGale vs bums at Glow Bluewater shopping centre.

Golovkin's other fights have been at 4am on Sky or BoxNation where even fewer people watch.

Golovkin actually fighting there might change things. But it is Degale's home, so it's a tough task.
