Comments Thread For: Arum: Rigondeaux Wants Lomachenko, Caribe To Blame

Two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (15-0, 10KOs) has had a rough two weeks. Due to his inactivity, he was stripped of his WBA/WBO super bantamweight world titles. Rigondeaux was last in action on December 31 of last year, when he knocked out Hisashi Amagasa in Osaka, Japan.

It's taken 83 years for it to happen but finally Arum is starting to talk a lot of sense with most of his recent interviews

What Arum said is exactly what I've been saying has been the problem with Cuban boxers. They are unwilling to change their style.
When you're fighting in a tournament, then it makes sense to take as little risk as possible and just get the win, because you might have to fight in a few days.
However the pros don't work like that. You have to put up on a show, take risks, and be more offensive.

Also when is Rigo going to get rid of Carribe already?

I don't think he can. They sued Top Rank and Rigo when they tried to make the Marroquin fight without them.

Caribe sound like a bunch of bumbling idiots. lol @ getting millions from Cuba. They have no idea what they're doing, Rigondeaux has to get away from them as soon as possible.

But I don't buy Arum's b.s. either. He badmouthed Rigo terribly in the press after the Donaire fight, I've never seen a promoter try to ruin his own fighter's reputation like that.

Arum does once again have a point, this is a great fight stylistically two of the very best amateur boxers fighting proper high class IQ in this fight but Rigo and Lomachenko aren't house held names... Millions? I don't think so lol.

Is this a Main Event style fight? No... Co-Main, possibly... Main Card, without a doubt. Both are great fighter and well known but only in what would be considered the amoungst the Hard Core Fans. Does this fight need to happen? In my point of view, yes... This fight could be, a true fight of the decade. Should it happen for millions, hell no but it should be for pennies either.
