    I don't agree with this.

Canelo is dropping back down to 154, if he offered a compromise of 157-158 that is more than fair IMO. GGG say's he can make 154, he easily weighs in at 159...why not weigh in 1lb less than usual for a mega fight?

... That's what you can't understand: when relativising everything and use sophisms, one has the tendency to neglect the "rules" and/or "the rule of law"... In this case: the mandatory for the WBC and lineal belts at 160 can't be "lawfully" forced to accept a catchweight whatsoever. The same would have been true in case GGG was champ at 168 and he would have asked for his mandatory to come down at 164 catchweight -- which didn't actually happen.

He's not getting either Cotto or Canelo anyway.

Canelo has confirmed he's returning to 154. Cotto has said he 'won't be forcred to fight anyone' and wants the best business fights. In other words, he'll vacate.

If GGG can fight for a vacant title against a nobody or meet Canelo in a massive fight at 157-158, what's more beneficial in terms of resume, finance and star building?

157-158 is not being forced into anything, it's an offer of a massive fight at a fair weight.

He'd come down for Floyd because Floyd is the best, #1 in the world.

Neither Cotto nor Canelo are top ten P4P.

                Why come down for either.

They want access to 3 MW belts, they are gonna have to be men about it.
It has to be about money, not just because he is the best. You not going to drain yourself to fight someone in a lower weight when you can move up and do the same thing, moreover there is no risk for him in fighting Mayweather, If he loses he loses to Mayweather the name.

You don't have to explain me (or anybody else here) anything -- because everything is so obvious by now...

... I never said that the fighters and/or their teams can't compromise on a certain weight limit and/or rehydration limit whatsoever -- because it's also about money...

... but, tbh, I really don't see Canelo and Oscar actually even wishing to fight Golovkin in 2016... This is my perception.

Oscar and canelo been saying for over a year now they have no intentions in fighting at full mw limit they will either drop back down to 154 or gradually move him along doing his cw fights until they can't no more, he has fan base to get it done and not take backlash remember he was trying get cotto fight before cotto picked up mw belt do if he drops it after fight he already has his reason to do it all

He will. It is all posturing right now. By all accounts, Golovkin eats well during his training camps and doesn't have to struggle at all to make weight. I'm sure he will gladly fight at 158....even though i hate catchweights, this is the right move. the two choices would be fight someone like Tureano Johnson at 160 for 1 million or fight canelo or cotto for 5+ million at 158 with a good chance at becoming the face of boxing with a victory. It's an easy choice.
