  • In 4o years time when people ask why Floyd didn't fight GGG, it will be because Floyd didn't want it. He ducked GGG when called out. History will know GGG wanted it, and FLoyd will be to blame.

    Why Floyd didn't fight a prime SSM, DLH and Pac the jury is still out on that one.

      Nobody will ever ask..... not 1 person..... ever !

      Not 1 knowledgable historian will ever consider that fight seriously.

        You really ought to start reading what other people are saying about Ward. Try this thread: http://www.boxingscene.com/andre-war...-others--97862
        The longer Andre Ward continues with his half efforts to resurrect/resuscitate his career, the louder and more pointed the criticisms will be and rightly so. Ward needs to make a decision - either fully committing to fighting or retiring from the ring.

          A few NSB posters who just so happen to be madly in love with Golovkin ?

          Nah, I will get my information elsewhere, fk the casual fans.

          I think you guys need to get a grip on the situation.

          Ward signed a deal with Roc Nation, then he signed a 3-fight deal with HBO.

          Then he pulled out of a short-notice fight with a niggling injury.

          Thats all, nothing more..... you guys just need to get a grip.

          ME confirmed that its nothing more than a slight hiccup.

          You guys need to get a grip.

          Just because Golovkin was not prepared to fight Ward, does not make Ward a bad guy dude, and just because he had to cancel the Cotto/Canelo card does not make him obsolete.

          Your post is waaay over the top.

            You are right. The swollen knee from which Andre Ward is suffering is a slight hiccup. Ward's problem is that he cannot get his career back on track. It will be interesting to see what Ward does once his knee is fit to resume training and fighting.
            Please, stop with the nonsense that GGG would not fight Ward. It was Ward who made it clear to HBO that he would not fight GGG; however, at the very same time GGG made it clear to HBO that he would fight Ward. Ward removed himself from consideration as an opponent. Naturally, GGG''s management then pressed on with GGG's long term goal of unifying the middleweight championship.

              Utter nonsense.

              It is plainly obvious that Golovkin avoided Ward.

              And if you understand styles you should know why.

              There is a reason why ALL fighters/trainers say that Ward beats Golovkin.

              You should give experienced insiders some credit.

              HBO lined up Kovalev, because Kovalev actually wants to fight Ward.

              The following world-class fights COULD have been on the table.....
              * Ward/Kovalev
              * Ward Golovkin
              * Golovkin/Lara
              * Golovkin/Cotto
              * Golovkin/Canelo

              Only 1 fight made it to the table..... Ward/Kovalev.

              Who is the common denominator in the failed fights ?

              * Ward Golovkin
              * Golovkin/Lara
              * Golovkin/Cotto
              * Golovkin/Canelo

                Earlier this year Ward told HBO that he would not fight GGG. At the same time GGG told HBO that he would fight Ward. This is a fact despite Ward's revisionist social media efforts. Here it is: "Hey Ward, wake up. Why are you talking trash about others? Speak for yourself. If you are trying to make a name for yourself by mentioning my name and building your fight by talking about me, then be a man and tell the truth," Golovkin told BoxingScene.com/Allboxing.ru. "At our meeting with HBO they asked both of us whether or not we are ready to fight. You remember our answers........I said 'yes' and you said 'no.' But you remember HBO made it clear back then that this fight needs a lot of time to build up. Then why are you talking **** about excuses? "When you make such provocative statements, don't even think it will make [promoter Tom] Loeffer [of K2 Promotions] buy into it. You have not been interesting to anybody for a long time already, and surely he won't build your name for you." "
                So go and build your brand on your own. Although everyone already knows who you are, and that's why they don't go to watch your fights. You shouldn't worry about who I fought or who I'm going to fight. Worry about yourself. You and the rest were lucky with the Super Six tournament where you got opponents by contract.And look who you are fighting now? - boxers ranked fourth or fifth in England. Although you do know very well that for all of the people in the United States there is still an open question - who is the best between you or [Andre] Dirrell. If you aren't able to call in the morning then don't attempt to crow." "When I say that I am ready to fight any middleweight and that I'm ready to move up to 168 for a big fight, then then I'll put my money where my mouth is. And I have nothing left to discuss with you. As a true man, you are dead to me." http://www.boxingscene.com/golovkin-...ing-sht--92369 As for styles, what is clear to me is that GGG is the superior and more complete fighter of the two as he controls the ring and his opponents seemingly without effort; Ward doesn't. As for fighting Kovalev, Andre Ward's management and Kovalev's management have been in talks; hopefully, announcement of a signed contract will soon be made. I am eager to see that fight as I am confident that Kovalev is the superior fighter and will beat Ward; however, given Ward's ring inactivity, I will not be surprised if the fight falls through.

                  I think that is absolutely incorrect, and not even close.

                  I really have to question why you made that statement ?

                  I don't even think you believe that.

                  Ward is CLEARLY a superior fighter in EVERY regard.

                  Ward does EVERYTHING better than Golovkin.

                  There is a reason why ALL fighters/trainers say that Ward beats GGG.

                  Once again..... Ward is CLEARLY a better fighter than Golovkin - just the eye test tells you that - and he CLEARLY does EVERYTHING better than triple-G, no question.

                  I don't even blame GGG for ducking him, I just think that Team Golovkin should stop lying to their fans.

                      exactly.

                      floyd did his "fight naturally bigger and heavier fighters" thing when he went up to 154. Hell, he isnt even a big welter!

                      GGG cutting to 154 isn't proving anything.
