Some of you guys are hilarious . . .

Read those sentences again. Slowly. Carefully. Kovalev was Stevenson's mandatory. Stevenson's choice was fight Kovalev or ditch his belt. He chose . . . FIGHT KOVALEV!

And Kovalev relinquished his mandatory position so he wouldn't have to fight Stevenson!

    Those are the facts.

Do I think Kovalev is afraid of Stevenson? Of course not. He's afraid of upsetting HBO.

The fight isn't going to happen. Everybody needs to move on.

But the bottom line is that the fight would have happened if one of the sides didn't pull out of the purse bid and that side was... KOVALEV!

    Stop the madness fellas.
So: you subscribed here back in 208 and you have 47 posts here, of which 4 post are on this thread... Funny... Slow starter, right?

Tell me: how Kovalev requested a purse bid? Do you have a link in which Kov is asking for a purse bid?

Don't really care about what Haymon, HBO or Showtime did or didn't do, fact was Kovalev team lobby for a purse bid, got one and then ducked the bid when it became clear that Team Adonis were willing to participate in the purse bid. That for me proves they ducked the Adonis fight, anything else is just excuses and am not going to listen to fanboys #Noexcuses.

Thank you, finally a poster with sense. Let it be known that I absolutely detest Adonis, and I hope he gets his head crushed in by anyone. And from the beginning I backed Kovalev and accuse Adonis of ducking but when I read and saw Kovalev team actions I knew straight away they were just all talk, they didn't really want the fight. So that's cool but I would call a spade a spade. Kovalev team just didn't want the fight period...

So, let me understand: Kov (and his team) lobbied for a purse bid only in order to duck that purse bid? It's this what you say?

Haymon is paying for airtime on certain networks for his fighters to fight on.
Why would he send one of his fighters to a rival network to get knocked out?
Same thing for Lara vs GGG.

Peter Quillin probably would've beat Matt Korobov and that fight didn't even happen.
Rival promoter's show on a rival network.

What would be the point of paying for airtime then sending your fighters over to a rival network?
Also, if Stevenson really wanted this fight, he would've taken it when he could still fight on HBO.

HBO had their chance to make this fight and they dropped the ball. They came with some weak ass offer that would offend any real promoter.

                Duel ppv???

because its not the biggest fight in boxing.

                its only been done twice

                mayweather vs pacquiao
                Tyson vs lewis

both were the biggest fights in boxing at the time they happened

kovalev vs Stevenson isn't a big fight, its just a necessary fight

it wouldn't be good business, especially for stevenson/GYM/showtime. it would probably only hit similar numbers to golovkin-lemieux while demanding a bigger purse, and the networks would have to share the income. then you have to take into account that stevenson would obviously lose, and that would spell an end to his time as a draw and possibly to his career

The easiest way is Kova buy his contract from duva then join al haymon.

i dont believe this bull**** haymon protecting his fighters but i believe he protecting his money from rival promotor so that's why he rarely fight his fighters outside PBC circle.
