If he fought Floyd again he wouldn't do even 1% better. He's a top fighter but just not able to answer the questions posed by guys with elite defensive skills and style. Good for him there aren't too many guys like that in the sport and I don't think Andrade or the Charlos are quite there at this point.Comment

Aside from winning the fights, you can always count on two things whenever Floyd Mayweather steps into the ring: he will always have the full backing of Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer, while Oscar de la Hoya will always pick him to lose, no matter the opponent. Such has been the case for every one of Mayweather’s fights dating back to when Golden Boy became the lead promoter for his events, dating back to his explosive 10th round knockout win over Ricky Hatton in Dec. ’07. Since then, de la Hoya has been publicly let down by the likes of Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley, Victor Ortiz, Miguel Cotto and most recently Robert Guerrero.
Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya once again expressed the opinion that WBC/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) will be faster and in much better shape for Floyd Mayweather Jr. - because of the agreed upon catch-weight of 152-pounds. The fight is scheduled for September 14th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

This is bullsht!! People talk about Canelo being green but A) He was not green, he had over 30 fights and was a champion and not some guy with 15 fight and B) Mayweather was in his mid 30's and past his prime and Canelo still couldn't beat him. End of thread. And I still remember a lot of haters who said no way in hell does Floyd fight the young lion and even said if he did, they would not complain about Floyd's opposition, and they still did after Floyd won.Last edited by richardt; 10-30-2015, 03:26 PM.Comment

Eh, not exactly apples to apples. Canelo was only 23 when he fought Floyd. Doesn't really matter how many 'official' fights you had.. he was still green.
You have Rigo, who has only 15 pro fights but he's 35.
Doesn't change the fact that Oscar is a master of changing his story after the fact. Can't believe a word he says.Comment

I picked Canelo because I would never pick May the Mouth Jr
BUT
I felt he was too green!
#1. Would Canelo laugh at Jrs pitty pat shots and just walk thru them and start pounding away????? That was his shot !!!
Noooooooo he stayed on the outside like the green fighter he WAS!!!
After getting more fights under his belt he has found his style and if he pressures Cotto with it relentlessly Cotto will Quit or get KO'd
BUT
If Canelo hesitates like with Jr he LOSES !!!Comment

Oscar is a massive **** talker and no-one should believe one word of what comes out of his mouth. Canelo is a very good fighter but he'll never be good enough to have ever beaten Floyd (at a reasonable weight).
There's nothing wrong with Canelo trading his 0 for a massive pay day, just don't treat us like ****ing idiots Oscar and think that we can't remember what you previously said.Comment

Canelo was a lot younger, bigger and Mayweather was already slowing, looked like the right time for me.Comment
