PBC isn't over, not by a long shot, but if it ends as those are predicting, I can't help but think it would have been a huge missed opportunity. I understand not every fight can be made and sometimes it gets complicated, but Haymon certainly has a large enough stable to make good fights consistently. I've thought that their matchmaking has been really bizarre up to this point and I hoped it would gradually get better, and maybe there still is enough time to do that, maybe not.
Well anything that fails is in some respects a missed opportunity. There is still so much time left in really determining that, that it is not even worth talking about it yet.

You are comparing a $60 dollar mismatch with basic TV fights?

      • Consistent great fights. Think about this. Haymon is stacked at 126. Let's we get:

        Mares/LSC January
        Russell/Selby February

        Winners fight June

Then who will the winner of that fight at the end of the year? Or even better what about next year? You can't keep a fighter busy against top competition 2-3x per year for 5 years. Nobodies roster is deep enough.

You have to look at what is being replaced. Lara vs Zaveck is replacing ESPN level cards between club fighters with 12-5 records. Bute vs DiLuisa is replacing NBC sports cards headlined by Najeeb Mohammedi.

I wouldn't be able to see Frampton vs Gonzalez, Huck vs Glowacki or Cleverly vs Fonfara last year unless it was on a crappy online stream.

It's the same fights you have been getting except they have a PBC logo on it.

          • I like how if you're remotely critical of anything, you're automatically a hater rooting for it to fail. Are there any announced fights on their schedule (not counting the Showtime ones, which aren't free or technically part of the PBC) that excite anyone?

I would like for PBC to be good, and they have had some really good fights. They have some fighters I like a lot, and most of the broadcasts are good.

But they've had a lot of terrible matchmaking. I'd rather see 2 evenly matched journeymen than a hot prospect come close to killing some overmatched dude.

There promotional decisions don't always make sense. Some of the broadcasts are horrible.

I would like for this to work, and for it to be successful if it's good. I am curious how any boxing is getting on TV again if this fails.

PBC has had some really good fights. But seriously, Tarver - Cunningham? On what level was that a remotely good fight? Broner-Molina? Any fight with BJ Flores in the ring instead of announcing? Really reaching here

You'd probably have better luck teaching a dog to talk than you would imparting basic economic concepts to the Pac crowd .
