Surprised by this news. Seems like a dumb decision to me. When you are a 44yr old cat who doesn't even deserve a title shot I think you happily agree to a rematch clause.

But Smith is very far away from that and could use the name recognition that a Mosley fight would bring.

The worst part is that Shane had already agreed to get it on...apparently for peanuts. So it seems to me like an opportunity wasted all because Smith's people weren't confident enough that Liam could win outright and not need a rematch.

Shane said he was even willing to sign a rematch just as long as it wasn't an immediate turnaround. Since he already has a commitment in early 2016.

Thank goodness, cuz this match-up was trash. 154 has Lara, Charlo twins, Andrade, Soro, Vanes, Molina, Trout, Nelson, Vanes, Williams.... Shane Mosley shouldn't be on any titlist's radar. Mosley is foolish for not accepting the title opportunity because he doesn't deserve it to begin with.
