Golovkin said that he could do it, and it could be a great fight ?

    Why not ?

That is a great fight, a great payday, a great win, and a great opportunity....

..... especially considering the fact that Golovkin said he could do it, and because he wont get that fight if he doesn't.

I'm not sure if Golovkin can make 154 like they say, but something like 156 would be fair, the point is Golovkin should be willing to negotiate.

Do you think Golovkin could beat Canelo at 156 ?

lol Oh these people are delusional. They're going to make negotiations that much worse for them once they see what a successful ppv does. Weight, ring size, gloves, purse split, ppv backside. It's gonna be how Floyd did the promotion vs Manny x1000000.

Good strategy for Team GGG. They should get all the belts and be active. If Canelo is not ready to fight with GGG now, than let it be so. This fight will happen when Canelo is ready. GGG should not wait for him and should keep his schedule busy. From a fan point of view, when this fight eventually happens, I don`t want to hear that Canelo was not yet ready. If it happens 2 years from now, so be it. GGG will rule his MW kingdom for a long time, no need to hurry.

          ?

Im not his nutritionist or his strength & conditioning coach, so I have no idea what he would be like at 156.

The bottom line is that he simply doesnt have to. His position as mandatory challenger grants him certain rights. If he wants to ********** himself to Canelo for the money & exposure, then thats his decision to make. If I were him, and could comfortably make the weight, I'd make a deal, because it would be in the best interests of my career.

But I dont know his psyche. Maybe for him the principle is more important than the payday. Or maybe its all just posturing until actual negotiations begin. Neither one of us know whats in his head.....

GGG and his team played hard ball with Ward because they said they were the "a-side", which is true. Now Canelo is doing the same to GGG.

I don't see how his fans, especially those that supported the position he took with Ward and defended GGG as the "a-side", can have any problem with it.

It's like saying you'll only date X race women, then along comes one of that X race babes, and you're still too ****** to realize 'say, this would be a cool chick to hang with'. It's called reassessment of one's priorities. One of many things smart people do in their lives. UnAbel can blabber away all he wants... facts remain the biggest payday(s) for GGG are Cotto and Canelo. That is indisputable. So, as soon as the GGG team wises up and realizes that stone cold reality, just maybe they'll remove cranium from back door, wise up, and sign the papers.
Sorry dude, if Canelo beats Cotto for the middle weight title , he has to fight at the middle weight limit, no ifs or ors about
Middle weight champion fights at the middle weight has to fight at the middle weight limit, FULL STOP.

Is Canelo not a big fight? Canelo has spoken and if GGG and team decide to stand firm they better have a plan B. Tureano Johnson and the winner of Lee/Saunders isn't gonna get it.
Well I guess that would be the first time a boxer/team has said something to get publicity

The whole 154 was for Mayweather only.

precisely. I think it's fair to say that the differential in popularity and numbers are wider when you compare canelo to ggg and ggg to ward

canelo has the second highest ppv numbers in the history on a single event while ggg has 97-150k

Yep all that..... or, GGG could fight him.

And it would if catchweights were abolished.

But they are here, and they are accepted unfortunately.

So to give you an honest answer I would say risk/reward.

Those guys are too experienced and too well-established to give away such a huge advantage to a beast like Golovkin.

Neither of them are real middleweights, or even close really.

Cotto weighs 153, he is a JMW who is punching above his weight..... and Canelo fights JMW's who agree to come in 1lb over.

Calling either of them a middleweight is " convenient " at the moment..... but it is still a huge stretch.

Everyone is hung up over Cotto because they think he took Golovkins shine by accidentally picking up the lineal/WBC strap in a money fight with injured Martinez.

And Canelo has been chasing a Cotto fight long before Cotto got lucky against Martinez.

And yet very few people seem to think that Golovkin should be a man of his word and accept a reasonable catchweight from the lil guys.

Maybe they will, lets wait and see I suppose.
155 is a ridiculous catch weight. It could be 158 or something, then fine. Canelo saying 155 basically means he doesn't want to fight.

That's all we can take from that.
