No it wasn't. It was for a "big fight". With Mayweather retired Canelo is the biggest fight out there for GGG. And GGG can make 155 easier than Canelo so I don't see why he won't make the fight. It'll be an easier fight for GGG at 155 than 160 IMO because Canelo will gas as he always does because he's killing himself to make weight.

The bottom line is that he simply doesnt have to. His position as mandatory challenger grants him certain rights. If he wants to ********** himself to Canelo for the money & exposure, then thats his decision to make. If I were him, and could comfortable make the weight, I'd make a deal, because it would be in the best interests of my career.

But I dont know his psyche. Maybe for him the principle is more important than the payday. Or maybe its all just posturing until actual negotiations begin. Neither one of us know whats in his head.....
Fair call, I'm guessing as well about the weight..... I wouldn't want to see Golovkin compromised even though they did say they could make 154. I cant see Canelo giving up much weight, so I hope you're right about the posturing.

Pretty much sums it up. Perhaps moving forward, GGG and his team's arrogance will match his accomplishments.

GGG is actually the g-side in that Floyd, Manny, cotto, Canelo, Froch, Chavez Jr. are all bigger earners than he.

" ridiculous " is one hell of a strong word to use considering they said this.....

" nobody at 154-160 lasts twelve with Golovkin "

You cant have forgotten, surely ?

and Oscar said "GGG-Canelo HAS to happen"

and Ward's people said "we want to fight the best", and then get rejected from NSAC for submitting a dummy as opponent

I dont know why you get so hung up about every single word that comes out about GGG. Ward said he would be heavyweight champ by 2016, yet I dont see you in 15 threads every day about that.

Whatever your issue is with GGG, you really need to come to terms with it. Im sure BigPoppa thanks you for the traffic, but man its getting tiring. You're like a broken record...... "BUT BUT BUT BUT ABEL SAID DOE BUT BUT BUT".......

because he doesnt have to. He can if he wants to, but he does not have to.

Canelo & Cotto are GGG biggests fights no doubt.

After they fight GGG is THEIR biggest fight! At 160 the correct limit for the Middleweight Title GGG calls the shots as it should be. Thats why its about the titles first!

The WBC is not going to strip Canelo with potential fights on Cinco de Mayo and Mexican Independence day next year so that GGG can defend them on HBO after those horrible PPV numbers. Sorry but if GGG wants the fight he will come down to 155.
Abel learned two weekends ago how little leverage they have and what a real draw GGG is.
I think after the fight on Nov. 21 Canelo will petition the WBC to let him have a few defenses at the full middleweight limit and it will be granted and there is nothing GGG can do about it. Sucks for him but boxing is a business at the end of the day.
