Golovkin has not beaten the best fighters in his division. He's getting there, but he has not yet. He should not be ranked above Kovalev or Gonzalez p4p. Really I think you could even put Crawford ahead of him. He's a great fighter, and could be p4p #1, but where is the proof?

the clear number 1 after floyd is WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO. the guy has been swatting away every mandatory for how many years now?? give him the RESPECT. "heavyweight division is weak", so is 160 but that doesnt stop the golovkin hype train from chugging along. as far as gonzales, i would put crawford above him.
1. WLADIMIR KLITSCHKO
2. Terrence Crawford (willing to climb to 147 to challenge himself unlike the guy at #5)
3. Roman Gonzalez
4. Sergey Kovalev
5. Gennady Golovkin (fight Lara, Andrade, move up and fight DeGale too)
6. Miguel Cotto/Saul Alvarez winner
7. Guillermo Rigondeaux (fight ANYBODY, wtf are you doing?)
8. Andre Ward (fight Yunieski Gonzalez!!)
9. Timothy Bradley (better not lose to bum a.ss Rios)
10. Manny Pacquiao (no shame losing to TBE)Last edited by Bandman; 10-26-2015, 01:15 PM.

I can see Chocolatito being 1-3 he earned it and has the skills, GGG.....BWHAHAHAHAHAH he isn't even top 5 and I don't even have him in my top ten.....he is close with a few more good wins and his resume will equal his talent.

He is a two weight division titleholder, WBO @ 135-140
IMO he is a better fighter and more versatile than GGG
Also GGG hasn't beat the number one middleweight yet...that's Cotto he is the champion
When Crawford beat Beltran, Beltran was the number 1 lightweight contender.....GGG hasn't beat the number 2 middleweight or the champ yet
He is only 28 and in his prime, outside of power their isn't anything GGG does better than Crawford
Their competition is similar thoughLast edited by therealpugilist; 10-26-2015, 12:52 PM.

I understand he needs tune ups but why are they so far apart in time and against such low-level opposition?
Gonzalez' trajectory has never taken a dip. Vladimir has continued to defeat all put before him. GGG pleases the eye but he doesn't yet have an elite resume. Rigondeaux is another who pleases the eye but surely with Donaire as his only major scalp and with the lack of activity then that must count against him. PAC has not looked as good recently the Algieri fight apart.
So I can see why Gonzalez and Vlad are up there and I would have Gonzalez higher because his recent competition in Estrada and Viloria are a few levels above Vlad's recent comp.
P4P = NOW !
You dont get points for old wins..... why should you?..... that is ATG.
P4P is about, who is the best fighter TODAY.
That is why Manny will have dropped on most relevant P4P lists.
Its more about ability/style/form.
A good way to think about it is based on the latin phrase ceteris paribus, "if all things were equal"..... so, if all things were equal, who would win?
The " equal " in boxing is size/weight.
So, if Gonzales was NATURALLY 6'6"-250lb and he fought Klitschko, who would win?..... or, if Klitschko was NATURALLY 5'fk-all, 112lbs and he fought chocolatito who would win?..... you have to understand how the styles mesh.
If we are going by " resume of current active fighters "..... then Pac is #1, end of discussion.
How the fk could choco and Kova and even Ward possibly be ranked higher than Pac? Resume has nothing to do with P4P at all.
You ABSOLUTELY can included a prospect, you ABSOLUTELY could throw Gomez in there if you wanted to..... ABSOLUTELY..... because P4P comes down to ability/style/form..... it is about who would win TODAY in a matchup like I described above.....
..... but it is highly unlikely that experienced insiders will rank an untested prospect on a P4P list because they know there are so many factors/issues in boxing that arise as you develop.
Proven fighters should be ranked higher IF they still have the ability/style/form.
And..... it is all completely subjective.
That is why " P4P " really is waaaaay overrated.
I dont even make a P4P list, never have really, but this is pretty interesting now that Mayweather has retired and a few guys have been shaken up.
There is " P4P - All Time " as well..... which can factor in resume..... but that is more of a "what if?" list than anything else, and it may include guys like Ketchel/Sanchez, or guys that may have fought in a poorer era..... possibly like Mayweather.

Guys, Golovkin aint making no P4P list that is based on resume, come on.
You bet Golovkin deserves to be there.
Hopkins knows whats up.
