Brook is the "problem with boxing these days" as you put it. Grab a disregarded alphabet belt, sit around or fight nobodies while demanding fights you haven't realistically earned until you're about to be stripped.

It's the new thing. They bypass the "meat" of a boxer's career (working their way to the top of the division) entirely. Thurman is working his way up the old fashioned way, why can't Brook?

Khan has 10x the career Brook does but he doesn't have that sought after "0" because he actually faced tough competition instead of sitting around for 30 years.
He doesn't want those fights either is the thing, he surely hasn't earned the big fights I agree but he talks a good game but truthfully doesn't want anything to do with a hard fight, he is the weakest champion at 147.

He didn't look all that gun shy when he plastered Shawn Porter's face with clean right hands and left hooks, making him look like a rank amateur in the good ol' United States.

Nah, he said if Khan said he was the best welterweight, I would be on Khan's case.

It would've been a ****** question to ask anyway, Kell is a world champion now and beat a guy in Porter who's better than anyone of Khan's resume and one of the best wins at welterweight recently. He's also about to fight a lower top 10 guy in Chaves which is a good win for anyone's resume.

The top 10 guys don't need to 'earn' fights against eachother, they are top 10 for a reason and need to fight eachother to find out who the best is.

Lets see the best wins at 147:

          Brook: Porter
          Thurman: Guerrero
          Maidana: Broner
          Khan: Alexander
          Bradley: Marquez
          Porter: Broner

So, actually, Bradley is the best if Manny retires. Brook is second.

            Ill buy that.

Brook could be number 1, but he needs to step up.

            Khan?

            No...

Carson Jones rocked him, broke him and chased him from pilar to post. He grabbed and ran and got the home town robbery... decision. He's the best though.

You're utterly deluded if you think that was anywhere near a "robbery". It was a close fight but Brook edged it. Regardless, he came back and stopped Jones in a rematch.

Keep harping on ancient history though. Might make you feel better about him embarrassing that sloppy American brawler in his own backyard to win the belt.

He might be but we will never know because the level of competition that he has been facing. One good close win which he clinched to death does not make him the best WW out there today.

Even beating Khan won't make him the best, maybe the top earning WW.
