If I promoted the guy and I really thought he was as marketable as this guy does ... I would have marketed him more.

Scary thought. The hardcore boxing fans that bought it did so because Roman was on the bill. I think you're right in that it would have done much worse (if that's possible) without that fight.

As far as being marketable, for TV, absolutely. It's clear that he's not able to support a ppv though.

He sure is, with 90k buys on his debut PPV. I still think Kovaleav have more pull than him.

Yes GGG is marketable but they will find it difficult to elevate his star status without a notable scalp on his resume. I don't care how good he is. Which makes even more sense for them to make an offer that Cotto/Canelo can't refuse. 70-30 split, catchweight, ring size, whatever. They had no incentive previously and 150k PPV probably doesn't give them any added reason to make a fight with him. These guys don't give two ****s about a green belt, they want to get paid. Team GGG is trying to strongarm their way into a fight when they should be conceding to bigger stars.

150k is starting to sound like a pipe dream actually. its sounding now like it is far less and only ones reporting differently have ties with hbo
