Ward vs Golovkin is a far bigger fight because ESPN/general sports audience/some even non-sports audiences have a reason to get interested in the fight. How many PPV buys u think GGG vs Ward does? GGG vs Lemieux wasnt a PPV fight. Anyone who knew abt boxing knew GGG was going to blow him away. If it did 150k its pretty good.
GGG is becoming a star thats one thing for sure. He has ads for Apple and heard abt Nike ( dont know if its true ).
I think GGG has a chance to become the next superstar but he needs to get into a real fight and win it. Canelo and Cotto dont want none so he will have to move up at some point.
Andre Ward is a real one, and the entire boxing media audiences knows this; super middleweight kingpin, last male Olympic boxing gold medalist, hasn't lost a fight since he was 12 years old, generally outclassing anyone he's ever been put in with, etc.
The storylines to market the fight write themselves [Ward and Golovkin were supposed to fight in the 165lb Olympic tournament, but Ward chose to fight out of his division to give Team USA another opportunity to win an Olympic medal; Andre Ward being Floyd Mayweather's "white hat", in that both guys are prodigal talents while also being utterly committed to the sport, but Ward has built himself up as a good guy while Floyd had to "turn" to get over; etc].
Golovkin needs to step into the ring in real fights if he's to have any chance at being a superstar; as far as I can tell, Team Golovkin is seemingly unwilling to put him into real fights. At the age of 33, the clock is working against Golovkin.
If the Vegas sportsbook does view Golovkin-(person) as being short of 10:1, Golovkin shouldn't take said fight.Comment

Nah..... they didn't.Ward has been removed as p4p by the ring and now it's between golovkin and Gonzales .....but I'll say Gonzalez for now......ward is fighting roadsweepers and pork pie munchers.....Golovkin needs ward to prove himself again...2 fights in 3 years.....returning from injury . Unable to make 168 and is getting his ass called out by kovalev...tell your fighter to up his game before people forget about him...war golovkin
You made that up.Comment

When talking about Ward/GGG you used the weight from their last fight....
But you forgot to do that when talking about Cotto/Canelo/GGG.....
Cotto-153
GGG - 159
Different divisions !
Right ?

How do you figure that the fight did $11m in revenue?I wouldn't call it a flop.....a flop is when you lose money....the event made over 11 million dollars.....golovkin got 2 mil lemeuix got 1.5 so do the math.....wasn't spectacular but the day boxing becomes based on how popular it is on ppv is the day boxing days....how many ppv did Barrera vs morales do...or gatti vs ward ...that's the kind of boxing what I wacth....not some overhyped Kim kardashian look at me I got my melons out fight......if your into ppv go to the oscars and the wait on the red carpet....u mug
Even if K2's hope is accurate, that's still $7.5m in PPV revenue (down to $3.5m once HBO/cable distributors get their share). The fact that K2 has yet to put out an "OMG, we crushed the gate numbers for MSG!!!!!!" press release also makes it pretty clear that the actual event gate, regardless of the 20k tickets sold, wasn't all that high (which you can then deduct against the costs of actually renting out MSG and putting on the show).
Where you find that extra $3m to get to your number is beyond me.
None of the fights that you've mentioned were financial monsters, so not sure how bringing those up makes up for K2 not making any money on the show (likely losing a good amount of money, once you figure all the side costs that need to be paid).
The sooner you accept the flop, the sooner you can move on to the next Golovkin flop (Golovkin-Johnson, the IBF title defense, is likely to head to PPV as well; HBO isn't going to lay out $3m to finance a Golovkin show from the boxing budget, and Golovkin isn't going to want to go back down to $1m paydays).Comment

You're so dumb, Johnson on Ppv lol. Just zero clue over and over againHow do you figure that the fight did $11m in revenue?

Andre Ward's HBO numbers, for the two fights of his that HBO carried, were 1.2m and 1.3m viewers; why people have held on to a number on BET, a network airing its first fight card, that was actually the number for the entire two hour broadcast (counting the undercard fight, the Nipsey Hussle performance, and the dead time after the fight ended early) is beyond me. On top of that, Andre Ward has been able to put over 10k people into his home venue three times so far (high watermark of 8k tickets sold and $720k in gate revenue isn't something to dismiss out of hand).Think for a second as to what an abject failure Ward is as an attraction. American, Olympian, undefeated, considered by some as the #1 or #2 pound-4-pound fighter on the planet, yet his promoter has to pay a network to show his fights, he does 300k on free tv, and they have to give away free tickets just to make it look good in the arena.
And now he is looking at guys ranked #30 and lower at SMW for a fight at LHW, on an undercard no less.
You might want to stop with the GGG-Ward comparisons, because all you are doing is making GGG look even better, which I'm sure is NOT your objective lol
On top of that, Andre Ward is heading into a pretty high-profile spot on the biggest fight card to close out the year.
The more you continue to try and diminish Andre Ward, the more foolish you will continue to look, especially while you're still trying to spin the Golovkin flop.Comment

Malik Scott, Bermaine Stiverne, Johan Duhaupas, and Eric Molina were all seen as top 40 heavyweights when Wilder fought them (not willing to lay the claim at top 30 without any other proof)
