Whats ruining Boxing and what keeps it afloat?

Changing what I wrote is weak.

Watching the sport doesn't hurt the sport. No, you do not have to accept anything. But since I watch a lot of boxing on TV, I know that while there have been weak major cards, there have been strong minor cards that I enjoyed despite the fact they got low ratings overall.

Its like voting. You can't complain if you don't vote. Worse, if you vote in every presidential election but don't vote in the smaller ones. You screw yourself because smart people know the local elections have much more of an affect on you and your daily life than the presidential election.

guys like you support mismatches like Canelo/Kirkland and Kov/Mohammedi fights and wonder why we get so many similar easy fights for stars. Yet you don't watch Fonfara/Cleverly because it came on Friday on Spike, or Huck/Glowacki because it was PBC.

Your actions do far more damage than my words.

Tuning in to crap fights and mismatches DOES hurt the sport. Just as buying crap ppv's hurts the sport in the sense that if they can continue to put out crap and people are willing to pay for it, then they will continue to do so.

I dont support mismatches but you apparently do. I support bouts that I know or have a feeling will be entertaining. That's what boxing is to me. Entertainment. I enjoyed last wknds PBC card (Peterson/Diaz). I didnt tune into the Fonfara/Cleverly fight because I had no idea it was on until after it had aired. Unlike you, I have a life and cant be home everytime there's a PBC card on. This is one of the things that is hurting PBC. Their cards are sporadic. Its hard to build a regular following when you're all over the place.

Ok, at least we can agree on the 1st paragraph. What generally happens though is the real fans buy all fights. I have not purchased a few PPV's for this reason.

I support all fights, bad or good. Remember as much as I have complained about some mismatches on HBO, I watch them. I don't fake boycott.

OK, my point is you can't know a fight is entertaining until it actually happens. I don't go by what is on paper.

You've said this before. We all have lives dude. But I am a diehard fan so I make time in my schedule for the sport. Married, young kids, 9-5, mortgage no different than you.

If anything, I appreciate alternate times so I can watch live fights on other days. You don't its fine with me.

Guess we just see things differently and have contrasting expectations of fans.

What keeps boxing going is that people love fist fighting and the excitement that comes from it's violence.

What ruins boxing is it is basically a totally free market. Everyone in boxing is trying to get theirs, which isn't a problem but with no central authority to regulate things it will be all over the place. It is why you can't have a totally free market because there are so many ways things can be taken advantage of with no sort of recourse. I am generally a fan of the free market deciding things, but when things go awry it is good to have some regulations that has some authority over it.

I would like to see an organization have a yearly weekend of boxing that they force all their champions to defend their titles. Like have all 16 divisional champions defend their belt on one of those nights and if they can't do it then they get penalized somehow. An event that fans can pin down on their calendars.

Good idea.

Instead we get the supposed number 1 p4p wanting 4 total tune up s for a year.

Or organizations bending their own rules to keep a popular fighter paying their sanctioning fees.

1) Fighters fighting who they want instead of fighting the best ones.
2) Clinch and other illegal defenses not being penalized, which causes the rage in all the casual fans and harcore fans, with the exception of a few that think that clinching is a valid tactic.
3) Not everyone having the same chance to use PEDs.
4) Fighters that drain themselves to make weight for lower divisions. They should not be able to put on so much weight, there should be a limit. Canelo for example is a disgrace who pretends to be a Jr Middleweight.

I like this idea. Have a boxing weekend starting Thursday till Sunday a whole weekend in Vegas where there are big fights held in each day. Do this 4 times a year and the boxing fans will love it.

The rest of the mismatches can be on PBC,ESPN,HBO and Showtime. I could care less get rid of them all and have just one company broadcast the fights on TV and focus on making huge events for the fans in big cities in the U.S.

Saturday night Koleav vs Stevenson
Sunday afternoon Chocolalito vs Estrada rematch

There you have it. A whole weekend of good fights in Vegas promote the **** out of it call it "Boxingpalooza" I don't care but that would be cool.

Who wouldn't want to go to Vegas to watch all these fights???
